Anybody here frequent TV Without Pity

The discussion forum just became websita nongrata at my office, and I don't know why. I hope my company isn't banning discussion forums, otherwise, um...bye.

I'm a frequent lurker there. I've never had a problem viewing the site from any of the offices that I work in . . . not that I would ever waste time during the day at non-work-related websites.

I'm a TWoP poster. Known as Morrolan over there. Only a couple of hundred posts, but it's a fun site.

Do the people who decide these things check closely? I know some of the folks who run TWoP also have very liberal blogs on the side.

I was only 30 posts away from Couch Potato. Once in a while the site would get filtered at work. Most of the time, everything came through. I've lost my enthusiasm for the place after my banning.

I messed with Clay Aiken's fans in the American Idol forum. Shame on me. Free speech is NOT alive and well in the AI forums. R.I.P. Queen Ellory. She's a goner. The whole situation was very demoralizing. I'm in my mid 50's and I never even had detention in my life. To be banned from a website was just too humiliating.

I heard those Clay Aiken fans can be pretty vicious.

It's been said that if Osama Bin Laden dared to criticize Clay Aiken, the Mates would find him, hunt him down and he'd be captured in a heartbeat. They are definitely a formidible group.

Sorry you got banned. Sars and Co. have a pretty good idea of what kind of discussion board they want to have and maintain. I post mainly in the soap opera areas, and, having come from usenet can understand why they get Gestapo at times. If they didn't, TWoP would have flames all over the place. They want discussion to be about the shows, not about the people posting on the boards.

I go to the West Wing forum now and then.

Some of the regulars are nuts. Just completely hysterical. They need help remembering that it's a television show.

I was going to the Lost forum. For a tightly-moderated board, they sure do allow some pretty disgusting comments, in my view. Not just the profanity but just disgusting stuff that I won't repeat here.

And I've also never understood why a supposed fan of a show enjoys going to a board to do nothing but complain about the show! :silly:

Further (now that I'm on a roll), Lost does inspire discussion about plot theories since so much is up in the air. However, some of those folks believe every scene, every word of dialogue, every prop, etc., is a clue in solving the mystery. But even funnier, some of them get the details so mixed up that they come up with these outlandish theories based on inaccuracies.

I really believe that board is populated by a bunch of middle school children!

I'd heard a rumor that the WW episode where Josh gets flamed on a suspiciously-similar fansite (and grumbles about "women wearing muu-muus who chainsmoke Parliaments", or words to that effect) might be based on this?

He posted there a while ago (3 or more years ago). That's what inspired that storyline.

I don't blame the poor guy. Some of those people are scary, masochistic freaks who cannot divorce fiction from reality. :scared:

I mostly lurk in the basement threads and potluck, as the regular show threads are just fucking insane now. I've been hanging out in Big Love though 'cause it's quiet, sane, and Sobell is one of the few mods on there who isn't nuts.
