I love just about everything about, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

(vaguely spoilerish)

Whoa.

I was extremely impressed by the first two episodes that aired on FX tonight. This show is going to blow up, huge. It's like a darker Seinfeld meets Arrested Development. Impressed yet?

If you don't know the plot, it's basically about 4 lower class friends (a brother and sister, and two other guys) who own an Irish pub in Philadelphia. During the premiere the brother and sister's estranged father (Danny DeVito) comes back into their life, announcing that he has given away all his (re:their) money. He decides he wants to return to his roots of poverty, squalor and debauchery. He wants to live the foul and odious life his children have been suffering in.

The characters are all genuinely awful people willing to do some ugly things. They're greedy, insincere, and ignorant. Often drunk, and always self-absorbed, but still loveable in a pitiable kind of way.

The wheel-chair episode was uproariously funny. It had that Seinfeld flavor with the intertwining storylines and that polio bit made me spit up diet pepsi everywhere. "He... also has polio."

Awesome.

The second episode had the great stuff with Israel and the use of the word Jew. And that scene with them trapped behind the fence? Yeah... "Wait...Wait, It's getting thinner. Stop. It's getting thinner!"

I watched that part like 3 times.

Danny DeVito's storyline of returning to debauchery lends a nice anchor to the show. His scenes with Charlie are amazing. And Anne Archer as the mom is great. Kinda reminds me of Jessica Walter's portrayal of Lucille Bluth.

My only beef is that my DVR cut off at the very end, right after they finished singing the acapella version of More Than Words (Nice touch by the way...) Can someone fill me in on what I missed after that part?

Anyways, this is an awesome show and I can HIGHLY recommend it to all Arrested Development fans, or fans of darker comedy in general.

I can't WAIT for next week.

6. Ok so now I am totally hooked on this show!
Tonight's episodes where they get hooked on crack and the other one where Dennis tried sleeping with their mothers for revenge was some of the funniest shit I've seen on TV in a long time. I'm going on vacation next week, but you can be sure I'm Tivo-ing next week's episode!

7. I'm just getting ready to watch tonight's episode
So glad to hear you're liking it!

I'm determined to get as many people watching this show as humanly possible. I'm not going through that Arrested Development heartache again anytime soon.

I highly recommend trying to find the first season (7 episodes) on one of the Bit torrent sites, if you do the bit torrent thing that is. It doesn't have Danny DeVito, but it's still amazingly funny.

9. LOL. It's weird.
All day long today I was thinking about the show. Almost bouncy at the thought of watching it tonight.

It's been a long time since I've looked forward to a show the way I look forward to this one.

I'm kinda disappointed that I watched all of the first season in one (gloriously hilarious) night. I shoulda rationed those suckers out some.

4. This is a funny show, I just watched it last night and couldn't stop
laughing. The sister is great and Danny DeVito is funny and I usually don't like him. It's not a show you want on when the little ones are in the room, but they have a bed time.

5. "Your dad keeps stealing my chicks and locking me out of my apartment!"
I just recently went back and downloaded all of the first season, which I swear I don't remember airing here.

There's no DeVito, but it's just as funny. They cover some topics that are supposed to be untouchable.

11. That is the beauty of FX
You think the things that they have done on Rescue Me (Best Show on Cable), Nip Tuck and the Shield would happen on NBC? No way they can't offend the bible belt.

Man, this show just keeps getting better and better.

That scene where the boys are going on and on about teabagging the priest when he was a teenager!

ROTFLMFAO!

16. This show is fucked up Seinfeld
It is hilarious. You can draw the parallels to Seinfeld characters pretty easily, but they take this show to such bizarre and hilarious ends.
