Survivor Tocantins: Episode 7 Discussion Thread
THE MERGE, THE MERGE!!!
I always love the merge episode. Though I was sad to see Joe go home without a vote, I think the extra days are going ot make for some more excitement.

My favorite line of the night was at teh beginning when coach said "This is about me now!" when he was doign hsi silly meditation dance. When exactly was it not about you?

As for Joe, we all knew this was coming. They had set it up last week. That knee looked bad.

I hate teh name Forza, it sounds stupid. But who really cares. JT is not thinking straight. He came in scared because of the numbers. Goign in scared can lead to bad decisions. Letting someone take control of you and set up a five person group where you are clearly on the outside is a bad idea. JT needs to calm down and think about other options. He has a core of three that can join with two from teh other side and have the same numbers. Then he is the one in charge. Why give that power to someone else.

I think coach is smart top go after Brendan and if not for Joe, Brendan would be gone. I don;t know what he waws thinking not contacting Taj and Stephen somehow. Even a look or a touch or something. HE needed to let them know he was still in.

Overall it was a good set up for the future, but a bad ending. I hate to see the medical ousting. Joe was a good guy, but not a great player. He started to play way to late and was a goner soon anyway.

1. I went berserk during that episode
I felt like I was going to go berserk anyway. I was so frustrated and mad and flabbergasted at JT and Stephen and then at Taj for joining together with Coach and funny-looking scrawny blonde guy! I just cannot stand Coach and don't know who could stand him. Season after season we see people form alliances with the biggest jerks when they could be forming other alliances and getting these "alpha males" that act like jerks out of the game. AAAUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I was pulling my hair out. I was liking JT and his fancy shorts but this episode I lost all faith in the kid.

Oh, and then I was pulling my hair out and yelling at the screen, "Brendan, TALK TO SOMEONE ALREADY!!!!!!!"

I was very upset most of this episode and actually planned on watching/listening to the tribal council from another room. I get so emotional during Survivor! I often like to watch the episode later after finding out online who was voted out. I don't get as emotional then.

Poor Joe. I always hate when someone goes for medical reasons. I'd even feel bad for Coach if he went that way. Maybe... Yeah, I would. It seemed pretty obvious even during episode 6 that was going to happen. If you are limping due to an infection, you can expect to be going home.

2. Coach ... Nah
If coach went home because he fell into teh fire while doing his silly dance, I don;t think I'd fell taht bad. He is such a jerk. I doubt Brendan will be able to change things, but I hope so. If Coach gets rid of Brendan, he will be in teh drivers seat, but his dumb attitude will do him in. I am hating Tyson more and more. He needs to go and shen he is backstabbed, I will love it. I hope he goes before Coach and we get to see Coach knowing he is next and trying like hell to save himself.

3. Episode 7
I laughed my butt off over the opening sequence with Coach. What a pretentious ass! :D I forsee an awesome tribal when he's finally voted out.

The blond mormon guy needs to go, and he needs to go soon. He's just obnoxious, and to me doesn't even have the entertainment value that Coach has.

JT and Steven are both afraid, but they're dealing with it in different ways. Steven is productively looking to further his position with anyone who will have him. That's ultimately going to work in Steven's favor I think, because he's always planning and scheming and thinking. JT is just afraid, and allowed himself to be in an alliance that might keep him here a few extra days, but ultimately will turn on him. He isn't thinking long term, IMO.

Sorry to see Joe go--it's always annoying when someone leaves the game for reasons other than tribal. I think this ultimately works in Brendan's favor. And while we're on the subject of Brendan, wth is he keeping quiet. He needs to do something to reassure Taj and Steven. At the same time, they can approach Brendon, too, and ask what's going on. The fact that all of them are too afraid to talk to each other does not bode well for the Exile Alliance.

Always fun to see a merge happen.

4. Coach gives me the creeps.
Last night's episode seemed to focus entirely on him. Ick. I think his alliance will fall apart since it's 3 days until the next elimination...someone's going to blab. I Googled him and he IS a part time symphony conductor...hard to believe. I thought he was kidding. He also wants a career in Hollywood, which may explain some of his actions.

I'd hate to see Taj turn on Brendan. The dress she's wearing fascinates me...there seems to be a lot of different ways to wear it.

I had to laugh a couple of weeks ago when Tyson said he was probably going to have to find someplace "less Mormony" to live! BYU kicked out Julie, a Mormon contestant on Real World NOLA, because she lived in the house with men.

I think I'll celebrate with a bottle of champagne when Coach gets booted! I hope it's sooner than later!

5. Oh well, my pick goes
It's ok, I didn't think he would or should win anyway. Still an unfortunate way to leave the game!

But the funniest line in the whole show (just ignore Coach) was when Taj said that "all my favorite things start with F!" Of course she, at the time, was (I think) talking about Food, but who knows?

The editors did not show us too much of Brendan, but I think that with the numbers in the favor of his tribe, he probably was rethinking his earlier "alliance" with Taj. And of course now with Joe gone, he's probably really rethinking it. Who knows, though.

I think Taj, JT and Stephen are my favorites. I think Coach wants to be the jerk they all want to take to the final.

6. Brendan
It's fine to rethink, but at least reassure Taj and Steven, because you never know what could happen and you might need their votes somewhere down the line.

7. I wonder if Joe will be seated on the jury?

Or is he out of the game altogether? After all, he did make it as far as the merge. I guess if he is hospitalized that certainly rules him out. But if he is ambulatory why not?

8. Jury
I think Joe should be on the jury. He made it to the merge, which is the traditional start of jury selection. It's only fair, especially since he did not leave the game of his own volition. Also, don't you want an odd number of jury members to ensure there is no tie?

9. The merge is not always the jury
It used to be the top 9, with seven jurors and 2 players left at the end. If its top three again, which I hate, I'd still put 7 on the jury so Joe would make it.
