Whitehouse Farmer
A follow-up to Michael Pollan's call for a Whitehouse Farmer.

The farmer will be charged with transforming “five prime south-facing acres of the White House lawn and plant in their place an organic fruit and vegetable garden” whose produce will be used by the White House Chef, and given to area food banks.

1. That is really cool. 5 acres can produce a lot of food.

7. The President has not asked for this
It is an answer to Michael Pollans editorial to the NY Times in October 2008. Here is the link to the editorial (quite long):

8. I voted for
Eliot Coleman because he does grow extensively year round. I don't think Joel Salatin would be interested in the position, really. I dunno.

Carrie Anne Little is in the lead and she sounds like a very fine choice, too.

I hope someone takes this seriously.

:hi:
