The OP makes it sound as if it's all peaches and cream getting electricity out there. But the truth is just stunning -- a desecration with global consequences.

2. Agreed. The people of Black Mesa have paid dearly for those lights.

Actually since I have lived long enough to remember when my parents got the REA I think all of us have paid a steep price. Life was so much slower and peaceful then. Most of us were very close to self-sufficient.
