Has anyone seen The Hill?
It's the new Sundance Channel reality show about the staffers in Conressman Robert Wexler's DC office.

I just saw the first episode - and it was very Kerry-heavy. Took place between early September 2004 and election day.

Ever wonder what life is like for those staffers who sit behind members of congress during hearings? Pretty interesting.

4. yeah I looked in my guide--
It's on Monday and Wednesday evening, but not the same episode. Looks like Wednesday's is the first one, and Monday's is the second? Maybe the first showing of the first episode was last Monday--because that is their "Doc Day"--a day reserved for documentaries.

6. I think the new episodes air on Wednesday,
so the Monday is probably a repeat.

5. I missed the first two showings
but caught the one this afternoon. Next repeat is tomorrow night at 8 pm.

It made me feel better about one thing - the national dem party sucked at promoting Kerry on tv, but this office certainly was involved with the election.

Wexler is the same congreeman who recently apeared on the Colbert Report; Colbert got him to say he liked sex and cocaine. He seems like a really good guy.

3. I haven't seen it because I don't get the Sundance Channel
but the web site you linked to is really cool. I watched a clip from the first episode - wish I could see more.

8. I watched last night (Monday)
Really interesting! And nice to see the campaign from a new angle. To see them watching the debates was great. And it looked like each and every one of those staffers is totally engaged and loving their job.

If I were that age, I'd be tempted to look into a career like theirs.

9. I'm glad you liked it!
The debate scene was my favorite too.

I also liked the parts about the girls dating Republicans who thought it was "so cute" that their girlfriends were liberal democrats. My daughter started the 2004 campaign dating a republican, and went through the same process they are going through.

10. Looking back at the debate period,
that was the high point of it all. JK wiped the floor with *, but with finesse. Those debates should have given him the victory. It just shows how undemocratic our country has become. Specifically, that one side owns the media, so that whatever happened at the debates, Kerry was going to be the bad guy. He might have won all three debates, but, "hey he made a comment about Mary Cheney so, whoops! No presidency for you, buster." Even though their guy was (and still is) a babbling incompetent.

Instead of news, we have spin. Everything in the news now is spun to be "good for Republicans". Whatever happens in the news will "hurt the Democrats" in the mid-terms, and help Republicans. And everything that * does, however bad, will "help the Republican party and hurt Democrats in the election." And let the truth be damned.

As Democrats we cannot accept this spin. Since Katrina, most of the people know * is a disaster on wheels. And no, it will NOT be good for Republicans in the mid-terms!

11. As obvious as it might be to most people,
I found it really heartening that democrats who weren't working directly for Kerry cared so much about his candidacy. Granted, they probably would have been as enthusiastic for any dem candidate, but they certainly weren't muttering nasty asides about him.

All the Monday morning quarterbacking and post election second guessing have made me pretty paranoid, I'm afraid. Watching that showe made me feel better.
