Just for laughs: Troll diary about Kerry's xmas cards
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/1/4/133116/2875

What makes it funny are the comments. And it's been tagged "troll diary" already. Not ONE recommend, and some rumbling about how people criticize Kerry just for the heck of it. This has lightened my mood considerably.

1. Now that made me smile!
Nice to see ordinary Kossacks (who aren't Kerrycrats) pointing out the stupidity of this diary. :)

2. Very, very interesting -- poster "phriendlyjaime" is from Virginia
and posts a lot on Raising Kaine. RK has been fairly anti-Kerry except when he endorsed Webb before the primary. Following Webb's lead, they held their fire during the joke debacle. But they seem to be more into Clark and Edwards (since Warner isn't running). But this poster just rec'd a comment that said Kerry was as plausible a candidate as any of the others. So it seems, she's open. A couple of others were favorable about Kerry, too, who I don't recognize. Hmmmm . . . we'll have to see how the next few months go.

3. Ha ha -- poster just disavowed his diary!! He kept it up (for me -- I
really did love the comments) but had everything crossed out. He's no Kerry fan, but he normally isn't a troll either. He was persuaded that the diary was wrong, so I'd say that's a win.

4. Deep dark secret
I kind of agree that as it's very easy to recycle paper that this seems weird. (Plus I'm keeping my card. I like it. - they gave it to me and can't have it back - though I will gladly vote for him any time I see his name on a ballot.)

I think they were trying to convey a message by it that that are ways to manufactor things to make everything return to nature - and this was more a gimmick to make people think about it. At any rate, it's a silly thing to criticize someone for.

8. I agree that it was to make people think about "cradle to cradle" design -
which, btw is *VERY* far thinking approach to design. I did receive the card (a couple days after Christmas, after the thread here had dropped so I decided not to gloat about it ;-) ) and I got a big smile when I read the card and realized what it was promoting.

But as far as paper recycling, I think it is a common fallacy to think that because we have something easy, it is the same for everyone. I know people who don't have easy access to recycling, and the office buildings I've worked in mostly do not do recycling. (That is a whole separate policy discussion, btw). So, the cards do "work" for people in those situations. (Not that I was going to throw away a card I got from John & Teresa anyway, but I guess not everyone is like me on that.)

More on "cradle to cradle" design (or just google it):

6. they remind me of the mean "popular" kids in school
always finding something to pick on. "oh my god, look at what HE is doing now, can you believe that, what a loser"

7. Jesus. But it's funny that it's getting no play. Even less recognition than
the other "dumbest Kerry bashing thread idea ever" from the right--which I still think was the ridiculous "Kerry got 'average' grades in college" crap from early '05. That didn't even get (much) action from the haters around here at that point, (I don't think) which was what made me classify it "dumbest bash ever."
