Edwards has no concept of truth
Link to a DU-P story where Edwards tells Blitzer that he voted against the funding ($87 billion) when speaking of asking Congress to cut off funding.

The Republican spin was that He and Kerry did - when that was not the intent and as Kerry said it was a protest vote - Edwards was actually pro-war then per 2 major interviews in Oct and Nov 2003.

This illustrates a major reason why it is so easy to support John Kerry - In 3 years of following closely - there is not one comment I can point to as a "lie". (Though he has said some people who don't deserve it are "nice".)

1. He also could have meant that he made the decision against the funds WHEN it wasn't
a popular vote to make.

I hope he clarifies, because stuff like this is getting noticed by GOPs opposition research even when you think you got by it for now.

2. That would make sense - but given how they vote
he knew it was passing - not as tough as making a vote that made a difference in outcome.

Had the measure failed, they would have moved towards the one Kerry and Edwards voted yes to - which Bush said he would veto.

What's stupid is that not only does this go to honesty - even now the majority of the population would NOT go for cutting off funding altogether. His precedents are wrong too - the funding in Vietnam was cut off after the Paris Peace talks and after our combat role was over. It cut money to maintain the South Vietnamese. We never had a war against Lebanon or Columbia - though we had troops in Lebanan and drug enforcement people in Columbia. Neither is a parallel to a situation where we have 132,000 troops on the ground.

4. It cut funding in half too
Not completely. I understand the concern of many for the Vietnamese people and ending the fighting for their benefit. But the funding had nothing to do with our troops, it annoys me when people perpetate that falsehood.

Although it is also frustrating that Bush threatening to veto a funding bill didn't hurt him a bit.

3. this is true--Kerry tells the truth
I've been following closely for three years, too, and he's consistently told the truth--and done it many times before it was generally known and accepted. He has also made statements about the importance of persons in public office to tell the truth, which only increases my faith in his veracity. Simply the best!!
