OT. Interesting and more proof
that 08 is getting out of hand (Divide and Conquer). :boring: Though the Clinton comment is interesting.

Divided Loyalty

By Pamela Gentry, BET News Senior Political Producer

Posted Feb. 14, 2007 – Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) quoted President Abraham Lincoln when he announced he his run for the White House, recalling Lincoln’s pronouncement that a “divided house” can’t succeed it must “stand together.”

Now Obama may need to remind his fellow members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) who are divided over whom to support for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The pressure is mounting on the 42 members of the caucus to pick the candidate they plan to support in 2008. Some Black lawmakers committed early to Sen. Hillary Clinton, (D-N.Y.) and former Sen. John Edwards, (D-N.C.), who entered the race early. Both have enjoyed wide support from Black Americans over the years.

On Tuesday, two Black South Carolina lawmakers, who had previously backed John Edwards declared their support for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.). The two state senators, Robert Ford and Darrell Jackson, expressed a belief that Clinton is the one Democratic candidate who can win in 2008. Both claimed to have been courted by the Obama campaign, and Ford stated that an Obama victory in the primary would "drag down the rest of the party."

While some of his colleagues on the national level feel they should stand with one of their own, some don’t want to go back on their word to Clinton or Edwards; others remain undecided.

While no one’s talking about this publicly, everyone’s talking. Some debates have ruffled feathers. I learned that during one recent gathering of House Dems, the loyalty-to-the-Clintons issue was brought up. The clear sentiment among some longtime Clinton supporters was that nothing lasts forever in politics.

We’ll see how that holds up when it’s time for everybody to stand up and be counted.

1. Obama would "drag down the rest of the party"???
I wonder why he would say that. And Clinton is the one who could win in 2008? I think all of our candidates are qualified and on tone to win in 2008.

2. It's the Clinton loyality thing
As I said a while back, they have bought into the line that Anyone who's last name is Clinton is electable. Plus, a lot of them were employed by Clinton in DC during the Clinton years.

3. Clinton loyalty and other factors.
Yes, loyalty. By minorities, Hollywood, elsewhere. Clinton strong-armed Steven Spielberg to give a fundraiser, though he'd slated one for Obama with other Hollywood pals.

The Clinton team have used the superior team baloney for people throughout the 2004 campaign and after, denying the unexpected closeness as a plus for Kerry and others. The Dems had to pull together better to actually win.

People like that Bill has won before, but this is Hillary. Also, Bill won because of Perot, Dole as an opponent, and before the Rovian machine got as up to speed.

At this point I am glad our guy is being positive and substantive for the country, starting his own campaign to end the war, addressing issues long forgotten, and running for the Senate. Getting points for what he does best, and feeling satisfaction about doing it.

Sorry, but I'm holding out for Gore, and trying not to think at all about 08, but rather how the new election reform legislation is disappointing, needing our work. Especially at the state level.

I am glad Kerry is being Kerry. I am holding out for Gore also. I haven't been posting much 08 stuff, just though the article was interesting and worth commenting on.

4. Inform Obama bloggers that Clintons held down the Dem party when Bill let
Poppy Bush off the hook over so many of his crimes of office - and especially should be shunned by the black community for siding with Poppy Bush and protecting his secrecy and privilege over the right of the black community to have the truth about CIA drugrunning that dumped tons of cheap cocaine into their communities with the protection of official government.

Hven't the Obama bloggers put two and two together on that yet? Haven't any of them figured out that the BET documentary American Gangster tracks a story that was reported in 1996? They can't figure out WHO was president then and whose WH worked to downplay and deny the story and take down the investigative reporter?

5. As a matter of fact
I will e-mail this to Ms. Gentry. They may figure it out if it is brought to light instead of being dismissed as Anti-Clinton or a conspiracy theory

8. BET did the documentary - they HAD to - no other news outlet would touch it.
Not because it isn't true, but because no one will touch what was really involved in IranContra, BCCI and CIA drugrunning - it takes down Bush1 and involves covering up from Clinton.

She knows the story - she just hasn't had the lightbulb go off in her head yet.

Gary Webb was taken down because Clinton's WH needed him taken down. They could have coughed up the documents that proved the report was true, and even compensated those communities by putting up federally funded clinics and job programs to help restore them.

Instead he chose to protect Poppy Bush - again.
