Set a deadline?
Not blaming anything on JK, but this is disheartening. This admin is running amok, and no one wants to or can do anything?

Democrats Back Away From Iraq Plan

By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON
Democratic leaders backed away from aggressive plans to limit President Bush's war authority, the latest sign of divisions within their ranks over how to proceed.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Monday he wanted to delay votes on a measure that would repeal the 2002 war authorization and narrow the mission in Iraq.

Senior Democrats who drafted the proposal, including Sens. Joseph Biden of Delaware and Carl Levin of Michigan, had sought swift action on it as early as this week, when the Senate takes up a measure to enact the recommendations of the bipartisan Sept. 11 commission.

Reid, who will huddle with Democrats Tuesday to discuss whether to postpone the Iraq debate, cited pressure from victims' families for quick action on the Sept. 11 bill as the reason for doing so.

2. "days, not weeks"
"before the Senate returned to the issue."

Sounds to me like the Dems are united on the 9/11 legislation and can pass it quickly. Iraq is going to be much more complicated, and any real change will be filibustered anyway. I don't see anything wrong with passing the 9/11 bill, some of those families have been fighting beside Democrats for years.

3. Perhaps I overreacted, but after reading countless articles, listening
to Olbermann's rant last night, reading the Walter Reed horror stories, I'm real concerned that this war gets as much attention as possible.

4. I knew it :-(
This is exactly why I have retained doubts about... certain choices being the best. There is something to be said for having the bully pulpit.

Operating within the system... As a Senator, he has to do it to stand a chance of getting anything accomplished, but that same System can decide to work against him.

Reid? Don't get me started. I doubt anyone wants to hear what I think of Reid most of the time. ;) And it probably wouldn't be in my best interest to say so publicly either.

9. Only paragraph 3 was about Reid.
The rest were referring to JK.
