Wow! Great exchange in the CAFE Standards hearing

The NHTSA Administrator was there and was held over because Sen. Kerry was late in getting to the hearing.

This exchange between KErry and this Bush appointee was great! Kerry pushed this person to find out why the Admin is still only using voluntaries instead of mandatories on setting CAFE Standards. (Yeah, Kerry had her for lunch in this hearing, what else is new!)

I will try and get the transcript tomorrow. Good, good stuff and another great day for the good Senator.

Once again, Sen Kerry demonstrates what a disaster this admin is. Boxer was excellent also.

Definitely wow! It's pretty damned obvious that yet another "Soccer Mom" has been appointed to a position she most certainly is not qualified for. She's a corporate type, who has coasted her way through life by non-stop bullshitting. Only someone as sharp as Sen. Kerry can expose her as the phony that she is.

"Cost/Benefit analysis" is code for doing whatever the auto industry tells the government to do. And Kerry was very apt to point out that in the end this hurts the industry by showing how behind they are the rest of the auto industry that is embracing improving CAFE standards (I can't believe American car companies are LEASING Toyota hybrid technology -- why are we so behind?).

He was excellent. I assume that woman wanted a drink after that grilling.

God, he was fabulous!!!!!
Lautenberg (1:39:18) and Carper (after Lautenberg) are also good, especially on promoting trains.
As others said, Boxer and Snowe are very good, too.
But JK was amazing.
