McCain stold Kerry's words
I have CSPAN2 on and didn't turn it off when McCain started his speech to the Firefighters. Imagine how weird it was to heard.

" I was at the airport the other day and someone came over and said "you look a lot like Senator McCain." So, I said, "I get that all the time" and he said "Heck, don't it make you feel mad?"

Having heard the same thing said by a person who would stand out far more at an airport. (In fact, didn't someone even joke about that joke when we were all hanging out wondering through Boston?)

3. It was startling
Because it was before the Fire fighters union, he risks that someone has heard Kerry use that joke. the guy who introduced him mentioned the work he did on veteran's benefits with Kerry. In the speech he is making a big point of the communications incapatibility and how some Senators have worked, but unsuccessfully to use part the unused spectrum to have emergency communications - I wonder what Democratic Senator worked on this - even though it meant working with Senator Stevens.

(I can say, Kerry was far more charming and disarming telling the same joke)

2. Is McCain

stalking Kerry's personality? After the way that VP rumor took on a life of its own, I seriously wonder.

Karyn, thanks for deciphering that New Yorker article.

4. Thank you and BLM for posting links and comments
from earlier debunkings. Thanks for the the thanks - because I wasn't sure how convincing it was though it is clear that this was a parallel McCain story. It shared many things with the Newsweek article - including the bizarre idea that he would give McCain the Secretary of Defense role. I doubt that is even legal - consider it would mean the VP would have to be confirmed for the position. Given that they disagreed on the war, why would Kerry give unusual control to the VP over something like that - when he was saying he would immediately have an international summit.

It sounds like the author went to Beatty, not the other way around. I didn't know how to say that it was Hollywood/inside the beltway/media gossip - especially as I knew nothing of the author.

I suspect that McCain admires John Kerry for being who he is. McCain does value honor and integrity and he likely can see that John Kerry has both. I hope a part of him does see that he sold his soul in 2004 either because he thought the PNAC cause was worth it or for his own ambition. (I hope it was the former because people can live with lying for a cause.) It also can't be lost on him that Kerry has enormous depth and compassion and acts on what he sees is right.

5. Figures McCain would steal the wrong words
I call on Sen. McCain to stop stealing Sen. Kerry's jokes. This is just plain wrong. The next thing that will happen is that McCain will mess up and then he will blame Sen. Kerry for it. (Well, it was his joke, I just repeated it and just because I said homicidal instead of mad, that's not my fault.)

Bite me McCain.

6. Yeah, what's all this about JK not being funny but everybody is stealing his jokes?
Didn't Leno also steal one of Kerry's jokes (er, the one now known as the botched joke)? And now McCain.

Wannabees. :D

7. HAHHA, what a prick. and in McCain's case the joke doesn't even work
as McCain is loved by the whore media and seen as mostly a positive popular guy.

while Kerry is viewed in negative ways because of the same whore media that props up McCain while using right wing talking points against Kerry.

i would love to see Kerry and McCain debate about anything. what a loser McCain would come off as.

i can't wait for McCain to lose the Primary.
