"John Kerry yawned and asked for a chocolate cupcake"
Edited on Wed Apr-18-07 06:11 AM by Island Blue
This is a mixture of pure snark, a few nibbles of cat nip and a sprinkling of real information. I'm not sure what the last sentance of the article means - I think they added a "not".

John Kerry Chills, Regrets Nothing — Except One Thing

John Kerry yawned and asked for a chocolate cupcake.

He was wrapping up yet another interview about his and his wife’s new global-warming book, This Moment on Earth, by talking about the “scientific community,” how toxins were “threatening species and threatening air quality,” and how the “grassroots are changing things.” A camera flash lit the room as Mr. Kerry drummed his hands on his knees. He looked bored.

It was around 6 p.m. on the evening of April 16. He finished his interview in one room of the 57th Street headquarters of the PublicAffairs publishing house and was walking down a long corridor to conduct another, with The Observer.

Dressed in a dark blue suit and green silk tie mottled with motorcycles, he passed a filing cabinet adorned with magnets of old Newsweek covers. One featured his own hangdog face beside his 2004 battle cry of “Bring It On.”

1. lovely piece
As I read it,I could see it as though watching a video of it. If they didn't add a "not" to that last line, it's still accurate, because he was elected on 2004. He was just cheated out of it by the weasels in the GOP.

2. Thank you -- I couldn't figure out that last line either.
He IS running for re-election to the Senate, right? Mass. folks? Can I have a confirm on that? Like, if you go to johnkerry.com, it SAYS "John Kerry for U.S. Senate".

8. Yes, he is
He is indeed re-running for the Senate from the great and noble State of Massachusetts. (Which should return the compliments he has given us by electing him by a wide and comfortable margin next year to a 5th term in the US Senate.)

Bumper stickers, pins and whatnot for that race available when they actually get printed up, sooner or later, this year.

3. This comment makes me sad
“I think we laid out, everywhere we went, a vision for America’s role in the world. One of the reasons I feel that is that when I travel abroad, I get an extraordinary welcome from these countries, because they understood."

Sorry, Kerrycrats, I know it may offend some of you and I apologize in advance, but sometimes I just can't help it to think: He is too good for America.

4. actually, I think we agree with you
Kerry offered principled, intelligent leadership. His life for 3 decades has been an open book - where he has lived the values he has spoken with integrity and grace.

The plans and programs he laid out were excellent and are echoed in 2008 positions of some other people.

Teresa was absolutely distorted to appear almost the opposite of who she is - because she would have validated that he was exactly what he appeared.

After Kerry, it is very hard to accept the run of the mill candidates we are being offered.

5. I agree. Sometimes I just don't feel connected to my country anymore.
Everything is entertainment and shock value. People find themselves the victims of the media far to often and their is a growing ugliness that I hope is soon replaced with more hope and understanding.

I think the person Senator Kerry is make me continue to look to the future and see some promise. If he can keep on fighting the good fight than so can I.

Damn, he is way to good for the present America.

7. I know that feeling...
...wisteria: "Sometimes I just don't feel connected to my country anymore." But in the words of a famous (and tall :7 ) patriot:

"...yes, my country right or wrong. When right, keep it right. When wrong, make it right. That's what we have to get out there and do today...MAKE THIS COUNTRY RIGHT. " - Senator John Kerry (Take Back America Conference) :patriot:

10. That's the way I see it - Foreign media got the campaign right. US media distorted it
deliberately.

14. It says later in the story
that someone brought him two brownies and a cookie. Hopefully that hit the spot for him.
