Oh,, this is nice. From Huffington Post.
Just saying with my feet planted firmly on he ground.

Unconventional Wisdom: Obama-Kerry 2008!

"Mayhill has been following Kerry on the stump, off and on, for the past few weeks, and has seen a man transformed: a man infused with an energy and enthusiasm, even a lightness of spirit, that balance nicely with his unshakable gravitas. It may be a desire to return the favors Karl Rove and the Swiftboaters dealt him in 2004; it may be that Kerry is sincerely impressed and energized by the prospect of an Obama Camelot. We think it's both. Whatever is inspiring Kerry lately, however, it's indisputable that Kerry is inspired. And some inspiration is what Barack Obama needs -- and may well have chosen to add to his ticket."

1. Do you have some glue...strong glue...
...I could borrow? My feet keep lifting up! :7

That's a great article. It's what I think + a couple of other signs I've noted. I liked this line:

"If McCain were foolish enough to choose Lieberman, the new John Kerry would win the vice-presidential debate the instant the cameras went live. Again: he's not the same man he was four years ago."

We here have closely watched the transformation. I know it is why I keep hoping.:)

2. Wow. Thanks for posting.
Whether or not Kerry would want or would be asked to be VP, I really, really loved that article.

3. Same here - I see it more as vindication of his merits
They are right that Kerry is more relaxed, but in those last 2 months in rallies he was inspired and radiant, for a lack of a better word. With the burden of wanting to make a mistake, he had to restrain some of his natural sharp wit.

The comments are surprisingly postive.

(The only really jarring comment in the article is that it would make the Clinton people more satisfied than other choices. Somehow, I don't think so. The ones still unhappy are the PUMAS and the first emotion that surfaces in them when Kerry's name is mentioned is NOT love.

,
during a flurry of telephonic press conferences by both campaigns on national defense issues featuring John Kerry (Dem-MA) for Obama and Joe Lieberman (Vichy-CT) for McCain. . .

6. LOL, I caught that when I went back to read the comments.

I also liked the comment about Lieberman coming across "toady" in contrast to Kerry's behavior.

And, this I found in the replies. I love the reference to McCain wishing he could be everything Kerry is.

I've also been thinking about the possibility of Kerry as VP. He's not been given any thought this election cycle simply because he lost the last one. I like him because he's what McCain wishes he could be. An Obama/Kerry ticket would be a "redeem team" ticket for the democrats. If Kerry has grown a backbone, it would be a smash hit. I'm sure Obama has considered him, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I just loved this entire post simply because Senator Kerry was treated so fairly and with the respect he deserves.

7. What a nice article--and music to my ears.
It makes so many good points. JK has certainly been vetted and would be ready to hit the ground running and campaign with a lot of energy until November 4. We know how tireless he is. And he is one of the few who Hillary supporters would admit to being at least as qualified as their favorite. He'd be an attack dog par excellence--and do it with finesse.

Obama has surprised us before--several times, in fact, with the moves he's made during this campaign. Like giving a major speech on race to counter an attack featuring Rev. Wright. Why not pick a former presidential candidate who still has a lot to give? JK is loyal, smart, honorable, a veteran and a foreign policy wonk who already knows many world leaders.

9. Not as clear as I thought. Some papers have said he could run the two races together.
Edited on Thu Aug-21-08 10:30 AM by Mass
This said, given the bad rap he is getting from many for not debating EOR (gulp, why should he debate this idiot is a question, but I think we are back to the initial issue, people in MA would like to see him talk about the state, not necessarily about big issues. This is why the ad surprised me so much. It is a great ad, but not for MA. People are not questioning his actions for veterans, they are questioning his interest for MA. They want to hear his vision for the state, and this is what the campaign seems to miss again and again), I somehow do not think he could run the two races, and I trust that the Obama campaign would investigate the question if Kerry VP was an option).

But anyway, I do not think it is going to happen, even if it is sweet to read (and hear) from so many sources that this is a good option (including media sources who have often poopooed Kerry).

10. I am sure, his next group of ads in the G.E. will focus on
things like energy, heating oil prices, the housing crisis, etc. BUT, I have to slightly disagree with you about the veterans issue -- there are a lot of veterans in Mass. who are benefiting from Kerry's work on that issue, so I think it was a good ad for the state, especially with the Red Sox, etc. To me, it was an intro video for the campaign.
