Will John be speaking at the convention at all?
Gore did in 2004, so I guess I expected John to, even if they hide him in the early morning or late at night. Iirc, Gore got a weird slot last time.

It would seem like a slight to me if he didn't.

4. This is how it is listed:
http://www.demconvention.com/schedule/#wednesday

Wednesday, August 27: Securing America’s Future

Barack Obama offers a new, tough foreign policy that is neither Republican nor Democratic, but is a strong, smart American foreign policy to make our country more secure and advance our interests in the world. Wednesday night’s Convention program will feature the voices of Americans who share Barack’s vision of making America stronger and safer.

The headline prime-time speaker on Wednesday will be Vice Presidential Nominee Senator Joe Biden.

Featured speakers will include:
Former President Bill Clinton; former Senator Tom Daschle; Governor Bill Richardson and Senators Evan Bayh, John Kerry and Jay Rockefeller. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Convention home state Senator Ken Salazar, House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn, and Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) along with Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Representative Patrick Murphy (D-PA) and Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth will lead a tribute honoring those who give so much to secure our nation’s future – veterans, active duty military and their families.

I guess the question is when the day/night begins. I don't know.

7. Pretty good, except that
it is most likely that the various news channels will be too busy disecting Clinton's speech to actually show it.

9. That's what c-span is for. God, if the nets do that, they will suck big time.
Maybe they'll just talk through the poor stay at home Mom following Bill (bless her for having to follow Bill).

14. Don't the nets only carry the main speaker? That would be Biden.
And Cable still has a pretty small audience. In the end, most people only catch sound bites the next day, if that.

15. Not sure
I only checked on MOnday, when they only had one hour, the last one with Michelle. I hope they will only carry Biden , and especially that he will give the speech of his life (and that he drops some of his "ladies and gentlemen"). It got on my nerves to no end that the discussions I heard about today were almost exclusively about Bill and that the VP speech was only mentioned as an afterthought.

10. I have been watching the Convention on the Live HD feed from the Convention.
I've got to see some amazing speeches yesterday including Schweitzer's that I am sure the media did not show, as they were busy commenting on Clinton's coming appearance.

12. I waaant cable!
:cry::cry::cry: with my lousy satellite connection, it's a luxury I cannot afford, I watched some 10 minutes or so clip the other day, probably in rather high def, and they again penalized me with snail speed for 25 hours, ot to mention the argument with my husband for "killing the Internet". I hate that!! The price to pay for the luxury of living in the middle of nowhere. By the way, did I mention that they charge me $60 (SIXTY!!!)/month for this? Please Barack, bring affordable broadband to the non-urban masses!

16. Look for it on PBS
Jim Lehrer has been covering three hours a night, plus a little extra if they run over time. I'm watching it on C-span but PBS would be my second choice. I can't stand the chattering pundits--not even Olbermann for this event. Don't tell me what I just heard--just let me hear it, says I!

Gwen Ifil is on the floor doing interviews and they do interrupt the more minor stuff, but hopefully they'll cover JK.

8. That's a lot for one hour:
Hour # 5 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (LOCAL)
Remarks
The Honorable Bill Clinton
Former President of the United States

Beth Robinson
Stay-at-home mom from Hampton Roads, Virginia

The Honorable John Kerry
US Senator, Massachusetts

Lt. Gen. Claudia Kennedy, US Army (Ret.)
First woman to achieve the rank of three star general in the US Army

The Honorable Bill Richardson
Governor of New Mexico

Video – Changing The Course of Our Nation
John Melvin
Iraq war veteran from DeWitt, Iowa

Veterans Video and Remarks
The Honorable Chet Edwards
Member of the US House of Representatives, Texas

(that is 7 PM mountain time which is 9 PM EST for those of us slightly confused reading it at first)

Hopefully Bill will stick to his allotted time (not snarking here, but he has been known in the past to speak much longer than what was planned). I also hope that Kerry spends most of his time blasting McCain.

Selfishly, I am happy he is in this segment as I will miss the beginning to go to my son's High School open house.
