Why are you a Kerrycrat?

Just interested here.
I am a Kerrycrat (actually a Derryiac) because I think he is a great person who lives his faith. That's very simplistic, but oh well, that's why.

but I like John Kerry because he's one of the few politicians who strikes me as honest. I see that he's accomplished a lot in his life. I don't agree w/ him on everything but I can still respect him. He's also complex which rubs others who like simplicity the wrong way but, for some reason, it's one of the things that I like most about him.

I was just saying is all. I'm sorry if I sounded nasty or defensive.

When I did my pre-primary research on JK, I followed my old mystical, visceral Irish instinct that proved to me he is complex, intellectually gifted, and full of integrity.

He is humble, sensitive and charismatic. I, too, admire his principles of faith and especially his many references to faith without works is not faith at all, but just empty rhetoric.

Hopefully we will still be able to witness what a great president we Kerrycrats know he can be. Our nation will benefit from this wise and wonderful man. JK in 08!

being a Kerrycrat is being a member of the John Kerry Group on DU. It doesn't mean you have to subscribe to a particular set of ideas. You can disagree with some things Kerry believes in, or believe equally in Kerry and Dean, like elshiva does. It's all good. :)

I don't like labels either--they divide people who should be on the same side. I'm a Democrat, period.

I believe that he has a good heart. He is one of the few politicians that still see their job as a public "service"

During the course of the campaign, I really feel in love with John Kerry. My interest in him started with his military background. War changes people. I believe that a Commander in Chief that has experienced exactly what war does to a person will be much more careful with the lives of our soldiers. John Kerry's service during Vietnam, combined with his service after he returned really captured my interest.

The more I learned about John Kerry, the more I liked. I believed that he was a man that I could trust. He has the courage to stand up for his convictions, and the judgment to fight for the things that are most important.

I heard so many personal stories that shed a light on his compassion. As I listened to him, I had a sense that what he said came he felt very deeply. I really believe that he was not disappointed in the outcome of this past election for himself. His heart aches for the people that he will not be able to help.

I guess to sum it up, I am a Kerrycrat because I think John Kerry is a great man, with a great heart. His intelligence, knowledge, experience, voting record etc. are just extras.

He's dedicated, sincere, and intellectual. I dig his worldview. Limitless ablility for engaging in intellectual discourse--he does his homework. His life story is amazing and inspiring. You can trust a man who has been consistently willing to stick his neck out for his principles.

He is a liberal Catholic and lives out the values of his faith. I'm not a Catholic, but some of the nicest people I've known in my life have turned out to be Catholics. They've been the ones to will step up and volunteer--to be Girl Scout leaders, for example. They've been the friendliest and most unselfish.

But I digress! To me John Kerry is someone from my Sixties generation who took the ideals that we had then forward into government so that he could change it from the inside. He's never given up fighting for a better America. It is the main reason he ran for president. He is ever the activist. People who assume he's a phoney and a sell-out are absolutely wrong, wrong, wrong!

He's charismatic, an alpha-male. I like his personality. (I think he would be a great person to have a glass of wine with!) He is friendly and upbeat, but not silly. He really means what he says--seems to live by the idea that if you are always your authentic self, life is easier and better. Playing games with people disrespects them, and dishonors yourself. And this man is honorable.

It's obvious to me that he lives true to himself so that he can maintain his own integrity, his own self-respect. He demands a lot of himself, but he lives up to it. That's why Kerry was so gracious to Bush on Nov.3 when the rest of us were thinking murderous thoughts--and I do want a hero who is morally stronger than I am!

he is a very good politician. There I said it. I like John Kerry because he is a very good practitioner of the art of politics. He cares about people and the issues and how government works and affects regular folks. (Yeah, I said that before. The guy is wicket smaht. You think a state like MA is gonna send a dummy to the Senate to rep us. I don't frinkin think so.) But I really, really, really like Kerry because he fought so damn hard to get elected. He played the game hard and to win. He worked a wicked lot to get elected as Lt. Gov and then as Senator and has worked hard at it ever since. (And he is not a backslapper and a gladhander by nature. Believe me, I've seen 'em come and go around here and this guy is the real thing. And he works harder than anyone else at it. Sigh!)

So I genuinely admire the Senator because he has never mailed it in and has taken a lot of difficult positions over the years and has become a better pol before my very eyes. And because he explained difficult concepts to people like me and tried very hard to get us to understand what the hell was going on in DC. (And I can be rather woolyheaded at times, so it has been a struggle, I'm sure.) And right now I really wicked like him because he is kicking ass both in committee hearings and in public speeches and is not letting the despicable, loathsome. morally-vapid Bush-like creatures of this Admin get away with their horrible deceptions. Ah! And that is why I usually refer to Senator Kerry as my esteemed junior Senator, cuz he is. And that may be the nicest thing I have ever written about a pol ever. (Although I also like Teddy K very much as well.)

War hero (not just veteran, but bona fide hero), crime fighter, honest, intelligent, strong, caring, and I agree with him most of the time. That's enough for me.
