Another reason to back Dodd. His opponent is taking Swiftboat money

I got the info via some RW blogger, but then googled and found it in the Hartford Courant:

Simmons, Simmons and Swift Boats...

Combing through Republican senatorial candidate Rob Simmons' recent campaign finance report, state Democrats have uncovered a $4,800 donation from Harold Simmons.

Harold Simmons -- no relation to Rob -- is the same guy who gave $2 million in 2004 to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, which ran ads attacking Democrat John Kerry's Vietnam record. Last year, Harold Simmons donated $3 million to the group responsible for an ad tying Barack Obama to former '60s radical William Ayers.

"Harold Simmons helped smear a man who served valiantly in Vietnam and attempted to paint as a domestic terrorist another man, who happens to be our country's President,'' Colleen Flanagan, spokeswoman for state Democrats said in a press release.

Dodd made mistakes, but he has been working hard on things like credit card reform and health care reform. And, although I do not care for a lot of the donations he has received, this Simmons guy will be worse.

one of the dems that gets trashed by more gullible lefties. Pelosi on torture, Dodd on Banking and Kerry on most everything ---republicans trash them, gullible lefties (or posers) echo the republican talking points and it deflects attention away from the real perpetrators.

who make news by speaking out on one thing. like when Murtha did and they started talking him up for president and vp.

I have wondered if the entire far far left has extremely severe ADD or something that keeps them from really looking at issues in any complexity. They reduce everything to simple slogans and litmus tests. Now it is "public option".

Look at that idiot, Adam Green demanding that Kerry rule out voting for any bill that is watered down at all (from what Green thinks is good) Yet he ignores that very few have made pro public option comments as strong and clear as Kerry. As one person posted in response to me - he wants him to be Dennis Kucincich. Me, I prefer a Kerry, who will work to find the best that can be done - rather than reject everything he dislikes.

4. I watched part of a speech

Dodd gave in the Senate on health care reform a couple of days ago. Woderful! He may have made mistakes (like everybody else) but to start considering him a "bad dem" and forget/ignore all the good work he has done is completely wrong.
