You give and you take away...

Bless you for covering the event yesterday which you called: Democratic Leaders on Global Climate Change Legislation!

And for several times airing the full 57 minute press event. I recorded the 17 minute version you aired last night, which basically included only the speeches by Senators Boxer and Kerry and then segued right into the Republican response. Unfortunately, by the time I realized this morning that there was a more complete version, it was too late to record it, so I'm just watching it, instead. And it's amazing and wonderful. I'm sad that I missed all my chances to record the full event, but that was my own fault, I can live with it.

But, C-SPAN!

As far as I can see, your only online version of this event, your only lasting record of it, is THE SEVENTEEN MINUTE VERSION!

Does that mean that this morning's showing of the full 57 minute event, which is ending right this minute on C-SPAN 2, is now forever inaccessible to a public that NEEDS to see it? This event was revelatory, not only because of its stirring speeches, but even more its stunning vision of something we don't get to see enough: Democratic solidarity and the camaraderie and purposefulness of a Senate Committee. This was a signal example of good Democrats and good Americans standing together and talking sense. In the short version, we only saw the leaders with a crowd of silent, unnamed people around them. In the complete version, they are not alone, two voices against the world, they are part of a vibrant community of senators, on and off Senator Boxer's Environment Committee, of military leaders and veterans, and even of support voiced in letters read which were sent by Senate oddities Arlen Specter and Joe Lieberman.

I'm hoping, C-SPAN, that you will find it in your heart to air the 57 minute version at least once more, maybe this weekend, but more importantly, that you will put that complete version up in your archive so that it stands as a record of the Democratic and American solidarity we all say we want and sometimes fear doesn't exist.

I went to your link and it is the full 57 minutes - I moved the cursor and the entire thing is various Democrats speaking.

By the way, thanks for the heads up - I need to watch this - especially after your wonderful description!

OK, C-SPAN, I take it all back. Although you still should be covering the SFRC hearings. :-)

but not trying to summarize it because I am lazy. It is interesting. I assume that JK will be distilling what he hears in this and other hearings. (I missed it this morning) The one on violence against women should be interesting.
