Sen Kerry's work to return kidnapped children to father
Edited on Mon Oct-04-10 08:00 AM by MBS
I first heard about this on Boston's (WGBH radio 89.5)Emily Rooney Show, this past wed or thursday (Sept 29 or 30). On the show-- about 45 minutes into the hour, as I remember --
there was an interview with Colin Bower, the local guy whose 2 kids were abducted by his Egyptian-born ex-wife, and taken to Egypt on false passports. He hadn't been able to see his kids for over a year, even though he legally had sole custody of the boys. In the interview, Bower mentioned that Kerry and his office had been wonderful, and that Kerry had even offered to go fetch the boys himself if/when the Egyptian government could finally cooperate with US government.
The Emily Rooney show has a podcast on WGBH website (http://www.wgbh.org/listen/index.cfm), but -- damn!-- I couldn't find this segment on her podcasts.
UPDATE: here's the interview, from her WGBH-TV ("greater Boston") website: http://www.wgbh.org/greater_boston/index.cfm
Story is called, "A Father's Mission". This is the SAME interview that I heard on her radio program.
Comments about Sen. Kerry start at 6 minutes 50 seconds. ."Sen. Kerry has been a true champion". . .

Here's also an earlier story that mentions JK, but this week's comments by Bower were stronger.

This is a really good cause, and I'm really glad that JK is continuing to work on this problem.

1. Nice to hear this - these cases are always so hard to read
In any divorce with kids, there is pain, but when it involves people from 2 different countries and the couple can not themselves find a successful way to share their kids, it becomes incredibly awful.

Here, it is interesting that Colin Bower had full custody as that might indicate that the court had reason not to give both partial custody. Is giving the father full custody very likely without there being ample reason?
