1. Result of poor PR. If even people who like Kerry cant see what he is doing,

he needs to find a way to get his work out more efficiently, or 2014 may be hard.

2. I wonder how he can improve his PR
It does seem that his staff puts out his statements on nearly every issue. It is clear that he does make himself available for all the MA papers - as they always seem to have quotes from him on issues.

I agree with you that this does not seem to get out as it should, but I can't really see many things he can do differently. I think you have spoken of him trying to call in more on radio or TV shows in MA - which would likely be helpful. Didn't he do many in 2008? It might be that now - far from 2014, that the risk of calling a RW show and being ambushed is not justified by the small potential gain. He might be counting on good work now and being available for the media now as enough for this time period.

If so, he could very well be right. I also remember that similar things were said in 2007, but by 2008, virtually every paper in MA endorsed him and all suddenly remembered all the things he had done, his intellect and his character - even the Boston Herald endorsed him.

As to this thread - and the obnoxious Blue Mass one you pointed to about a month ago, it is sickening that people who should know better are so cynical and unwilling to see him as he is.

3. Wonder can he find anyone to replace
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 03:00 PM by politicasista
Ayanna Pressley and Setti Warren (both sound like they are doing well in their separate offices. :)).

Wonder if he has a financial PR person? (That may sound stupid) With all the controversies over wealth (mistrust in wealthy pols?), he should be having top notch, on the ball people like Uncle Ted had.

And his team needs to find a way to debunk the myth of Brown being the most popular pol in the state. (There was a panalist, that repeated that on Basic Black). He shouldn't be more popular than Patrick, Kerry, or even Obama.

4. Oh, yeah-- Ayanna and Setti are doing great, aren't they?! : )
I've been following that @#$% thread, and, honestly, I can't figure out why that s___ about wealth is showing up on DU.
I mean the BoHe, etc., is hopeless, but among Dems? Come ON. I hadn't been reading the "outside" threads like this for awhile, and, not knowing the history of some of those posters, I found myself wondering how many were Republican plants. .

that said, I also think that JK needs WAY WAY better PR. While I admire how he continues to do good things even without recognition, people really really need to know this. MA voters need to know more, American voters need to know more, Dems need to know more. Not just so he gets the creds: there are so many dispirited people out there, and they need to know that there really are politicians out there ,fighting for them, fighting to make the country and the world a better place.

Let's hope his MTP appearance makes a splash tomorrow. I hope he gives McConnell and the Republicans HELL. They deserve it.

5. They look like they have adjusted well
we know where they got that from. :)

Yep. There are some bad apples in the bunch somewhere. Not suprising. Guess there is jealously and hatred of "wealthy pols" (not just Kerry, but Gore) unless you are a favorite of that person. (Hope the post didn't read like me was dissing the Senator for having dough or dissing his PR to envoke the late Uncle Ted).

Agree with your paragraphs about PR, (there are no dogs and cats in that fight, but always curious :)).

6. I have used "search" on many in the past - but not this one
I find that a very large percent were Edwards people. Many have always felt that no person who never faced having to chose which economic need they have to satisfy could completely understand them.

Many really don't understand that many of the strongest, most successful people who helped the poor - FDR, EMK, etc were born to great wealth. In Kerry's case, one major flaw in 2004 was that they absolutely failed to get out the scope of things that Teresa did - to help the poor, on healthcare and on the environment. It might actually have been one of the worst flaws - as doing that would have validated Kerry, as the man she chose to marry. It also is an attack that goes back to 1971 - even though he was NOT wealthy - it didn't matter - as a Nixon person said "He looked like a Kennedy and sounded like a Kennedy."

I think Teresa's answer on wealth here was wonderful:
