Joe Lieberman is retiring. As with every politician, he means different things to different people, but the senator from Connecticut holds a special place in the hearts of liberals, who disdain him to no end.

Just two years after he ran as John Kerry's vice-presidential nominee, liberals in Connecticut tried to oust him from the Senate in 2006, angry at Lieberman over his support for the Iraq war. They succeeded, only to see him rise again, defeating Democratic nominee Ned Lamont in the general election as an independent.
...

It is actually not the first time I read something like that, but, usually, it is in foreign papers or forums where people can post their editorial. It is the first time I see something that basic in a paper like the Atlantic!! And you wonder why I dont trust the media.

1. That is absolutely pathetic - especially as it forgets the entire Joemomentum run for the nomination
in 2004. How can they forget Lieberman claiming he was in a three tie for third in NH - except I think the other two had had about 3% more.

3. I guess they want to forget Edwards ever existed :-)
seriously now, it's an incredibly embarassing mistake.

4. Why employ copy editors and proofreaders?
They OBVIOUSLY aren't needed. :sarcasm:

These embarrassing mistakes are becoming more and more common as sloppy work is published. I was a copy editor for a business publication long years ago ... and when costs were cut, copy editors were the first to go. NOT needed!

5. This is not the magazine. It's the politics section of the website
where I think there is less editing and more throwing things up fast. What bothers me is less the original mistake and more the fact that even after someone left a comment it still hasn't been corrected.
