Brief coverage of JK in Cairo
US senator John Kerry arrived in Cairo on Sunday for talks with Egypt’s military rulers, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister Essam Sharaf.

Kerry will also meet Foreign Minister Nabil El-Arabi and Arab League chief Amr Moussa to discuss the latest political developments in Egypt and Libya.

I'm pretty confused about the supposed misspeak about the frozen assets!

1. There was a Washington Times story that Kerry said the US froze $31 billion

of Mubarack's assets in the q & A Carnegie Speech - when he meant Gadaffi - and it was corrected by his office when they were asked. (I think the question was on if the USA would freeze Mubarack's assets and JK's answer was about Gadaffi - possibly mishearing the question. No one other than the WT had anything on it.)

(I did not go back and watch the Q&A.)

2. A bit more
"People voted for the first time in 30 years, not knowing what the outcome would be and I think it's a very good sign for the steps ahead, a very good sign," he added.

Kerry, who heads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was speaking to reporters as he toured Cairo's iconic Tahrir Square, epicentre of the 18 straight days of mass protests that ended Mubarak's authoritarian rule.
