Dorgan was good too. I liked Kerry the best though, he was even better than Hillary. I don't know if it's because I like all those details or what. Did you notice "people think all this technical stuff is too complicated, that they can't understand it. Well yes you can, it's simple." Do you think that might be something he's adding to sort of offset that "Kerry is a wonk" stuff?

It was pretty funny when he said it was a good thing he couldn't move around on the stage or he might have decked somebody, that guy he was debating.

and can now go into that mode pretty easily.

It was interesting to hear that comment about wanting to "deck" somebody--this was referring to one of the primary debates (?)--maybe I'm reading more into it than it was, but was he trying to show something about himself? That he gets angry about issues? As in, "Democrats are not wimps"?

I watched the repeat later last night. He was definitely referring to Bush. Nice to know what he was really thinking during the debate, beneath the cool exterior. I'm glad to know it. Inspires confidence.

at 8:00 is the (sad) tribute to Tom Daschle. (JK was there.)
9:00 is the Jackie Robinson tribute that Kerry helped bring into being so that * could sweep in on and pretend he cared about.

Ah me, that might be the best catnip line ever. I wish my esteemed Junior Senator had walked over and decked somebody during a debate, but I have no class. Sigh! That would have been great. Bet that somebody has a glass jaw and would have folded like paper sack. But I digress. One of the best catnip lines ever.

and well reasoned answers. I still can't believe he said that. Although I don't doubt his physical ability, I just can't picture your senator actually hitting anyone.

But the fact that he even said it was really funny. And gives the lie to the phrase that Kerry is stiff and boring. (Although I do stipulate that he can be quirky sometimes.)

Everyone at this panel was nice and loose and looked like they were having fun there. They really looked like they were enjoyed the chance to speak up FOR a program they really believed in. I was very happy to see all the Senators (mine included) start to talk about this program in such a powerful way. Supporting social programs and providing a way to give shelter from the various economic storms of life IS a moral value and we should talk about it as such.

I am just very pleased with how this all went. Wonderful forum and I hope they do many more. (The format worked incredibly well and looked good on TV as well.)

I know the leadership is, but will they all vote against the repub plan (whatever it turns out to be!) ? That would be the best scenario. But then it's like herding cats...

He said we were grieving over the loss--how true! And as the news gets worse, more and more will be sorry His Fraudulency is still in the WH. He's a madman and he's drunk with power. We know he'll fall, but the question is, how many will he hurt on the way down. :(

I was very happy to see this tonight. (Ah, Kerry got a great intro with the 'No need for an introduction' line. Rock Star!) I loved Sens. Durgin and Durbin. I thought Sens. Clinton and Schumer also spoke very well. Everyone seemed so happy to be speaking FOR something that they believed in fully and it showed. There was some enthusiasm in that room, not just another "We are all doomed under this idiot * " that has been the feeling in so many things Dems have had to do recently. It's nice to see the change of mood. It's energizing and gives people something to root for.

I loved Kerry's remarks. His speaking style continues to improve. He spoke succinctly, made cogent points that were well-spoken and heartfelt and he translated some complex concepts into clear speech. (I thought anyway.) Good job! (And good job to Sen. Durgin who excels at this.)

Somebody with a deep voice was coughing during the show. Could have been him or one of the other Sens. up on the platform. (Ahm, who else has a 'basso profundo' voice?)

Either Reid or Durbin (Reid sounded a little raspy when he spoke).

Cspan didn't list all of the names, but it was Dick Durbin and Byron Dorgan, right? and Lautenberg, Kerry, Reid, Schumer, Clinton. Maybe you meant Dorgan when you wrote Durgin.

Curses, foiled again. Alas, spelling in not my forte. (ten lashes with a wet noodle for me. If WEL was hanging out here, she would think of something better, but she is otherwise occupied.)

I think he sometimes will say things others are thinking, but not saying. He was a really good Senator before he retired. But he's been incredible since he came back. Of all the Jersey Senators I've voted for he's my favorite.

Why did he leave and then come back? He's pretty old now, too, so? Of course Byrd is still going strong!

who was plagued by scandals a few months before the election. the NJ courts ruled that if the Democratic line was empty (by resignation) it could be filled. Lautenberg had retired but came back to save the seat and appears to be having a good time.
