2. Thanks.
The direct link here.

Good to hear Kerry's perspective on the relationship between Pakistan and the U.S. leading up to the event.

4. Great interview - lots of things there are now up in the air
Having these two already scheduled hearings today and Thursday is really lucky - and the order is likely for the best as what to think of Pakistan seems the harder to understand. Kerry's point that Pakistan allowed the CIA in and drones is important. It is not clear they could have done this without being able to be in Pakistan with their concurrence.

5. Here's an NPR interview - very intelligent, open interview
http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=135930268&m=135930221

Kerry is pretty open that Pakistan might well have known where he was, but this has been raised in back room conversations. He says that it requires a stretch that they could not have known that he was so near there military.

He does point out that we could not have done this without the fact that they let us operate there. Part of the theory in the aid program was to work with the people of Pakistan, not the military or a government. Hopes that we will not have a knee jerk reaction that "cuts off our nose to spite our face."

There is also this (positive) Boston Herald article of a Kerry call with them discussing Pakistan - http://www.bostonherald.com/news/columnists/view/2011_0503kerry_poised_to_see_how_kill_alters_afghanistan/ The comments as always are obnoxious.

(Not sure what he means about putting the question to Karzai in a few days - I don't think Karzai is scheduled for a hearing - so I assume it might be a phone call or a trip - either way.)
