More '08 Speculation
More speculation today for the ’08 Democratic nomination run from Chris Matthews, who is reporting that Al Gore won’t run in ’08. It seems that the speculation makers are having a hey-day today…

Al Gore won't run for president in 2008 (Chris Matthews)

The 2008 Presidential campaign will not include Al Gore. I'm reporting tonight that the former Vice President and 2000 Democratic Presidential nominee will not run for President. I've been given this scoop from a perfect source who informed me that the purpose of this disclosure at this time is to end speculation about a campaign that will never occur.

So, now that Al Gore is out... what does this mean for the likely 2008 battle between Hillary and John Kerry?

Ron reported earlier today on a story from the Boston Herald, about a comment that Ted Kennedy made yesterday on ABC-TV’s “This Week.”

The San Jose Mercury also has a take on that story, today... “Sorry, Hillary, but Teddy's a Kerry man.”

1. I want a different source than Matthews
I'm not sure I can trust him.

Hmm. But if true, I wonder who started that rumor in the first place. I thought it was Tipper or someone.

Poor Jackson4Gore. What will he do now?

5. you have your answer Re: Jackson4Gore
Hes saying its not true, dunno if it is or not. If Gore wants to run, cool, if he doesnt, thats also cool, either way, if Kerry and Gore are both in the race, I pick Kerry.

I feared this.

We may have to stage an "intervention".

8. It may be true, it may not be
I am not particular keen on Gore after some of the stuff Ive learned, plus I think he wasnt a good candidate, Kerry yes got less percent than him but Kerry also made inroads and I just like Kerry better.

2. Hmmmm interesting
Doesnt suprise me. If it turns in to Hiliary vs Kerry, I'd say Kerry can win but he'll have a tough road ahead, you know that would make the meanies in GD head spin if that happened, if it came down to those two.

10. JK has so much more experience,
Although Hillary is probably bright enough, she's only had a few years in the Senate. But the important thing is whether she's got what it takes to win. How many blue-collar-union-type dems might abandon ship rather than vote for a woman? I found from working with a few of them on the campaign that they are more resistant to some of the more non-traditional ideas. It all comes down to electability; we just can't lose another election to the repubs.

12. I dont know but if we want to appeal to blue collar types
I think the best candidate last time around for that would been Gephardt, he seems to talk their language, I like him for that, I dont know what kinda candidate, he would have made though, I like him but I dont see young people being energized by him, thats not his fault though, most young people are social liberals but more economically free market, Gephardt inspires the more social moderate and more economically liberal, I am an all around liberal democrat with a touch of everything.

11. It's still too early
I think we need a challenge as to which Dem can go to the most Senatorial and Congressional races in '06 and elect the most Dems. Whoever wins, gets the MSM seal of approval for frontrunner to a race that won't even start for 20 months or so.

Honestly, this is just too early. (But fun. I understand that. But geez, I can't take it seriously yet. This is what pundits do in order to justify drawing a paycheck in an off year.)

36. Now he won't leave!
Memo to Alan Keyes: Yes, I know we voted overwhelmingly to send Barack Obama far away (to DC) rather than you. Counterintuitive as it may seem, that doesn't mean we dislike him and want you to stick around. Quite the opposite. Please leave now.

Maya can stay though. She's cute!

Oooh, wait til Corsi hits Massachusetts. He's gonna WISH he was as popular as Keyes!

22. What really sticks out in my memory because it caused everyone
to laugh is when Edwards was listing all of the evil votes that Cheney had. The best one was that he voted against funding for the Meals on Wheels program for elderly people. That was funny yet very sad.
