Harold Ford Jr
what do you all think of Harold Ford Jr from Tennessee ? i know a lot of people on DU don't like him because he isn't liberal enough for them. but he is from Tennessee which is a conservative state so he has to be more conservative than someone from the Northeast,West, and even the midwest if he wants a chance of winning. and add in the fact that he is black which will hurt him among some voters.

i think it would be nice to have another minority , especially from the South in the Senate. what do you all think?

(personally i think Ford is more liberal than he votes, but he knows he has to compromise considering the state he hopes to get elected in and i see nothing wrong with that)

1. I am not a fan of him for being a compromiser but
I realize that he is from Tennessee and they are different and I would happily have him be Senator but I will expcet him to be moderate.

2. I think he is okay.
Some people here in TN think he isn't "black" or "liberal" enough as a Dem. He was head of the Kerry campaign in Memphis during the primary season. He has turned conservative on some issues like gay rights, and other stuff though he strongly opposes Smirky's SS privitazation plan. I heard that he might be trying to distance himself from the CBC. I haven't seen him hanging with them alot. I think he would make a good candidate for the U.S. Senate, although they have been increasingly smearing his uncle John the last two months.

3. He's dignified and
intelligent. Too conservative for me, but then I'm not from Tennessee.

4. I'm from Tennessee
but not in his area. I'm not sure about him really. I'm not sure who I'm voting for yet. Corker isn't bad for a republican. I like him and live under him. You can see his profile at http://www.chattanooga.gov

You're considering voting for a Republican, NOW? What do you think he will do when he gets to D.C.?
