* says Rethugs are the party of ideas
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 08:11 PM by TayTay
Throws down the gauntlet for Dems to out-think him. (OMG? My dog could outthink the Shrub.)

BTW, here is what Kerry said about Rethug 'Ideas', particularly when it came to 'Jesus hates filibusters':

The fact that we even have to debate a nuclear option over these judges tells you this is all about power, about victory, about a sort of unchallenged ability to be able to do whatever you want, despite the fact that that is not the way it works here and that is not the way our Founding Fathers intended it to work.

It is time to put Americans back in control of their own lives and put Washington back on their side. That means restoring accountability, accountability for false promises, accountability for failure to address issues that we have promised to address, ranging from energy independence to military families who just lose their benefits when they are called to duty and struggle with their families, accountability for fiscal insanity, for record deficits, for mounting debts. That is the debate we owe the American people, accountability for 45 million Americans who have no health care and middle-class Americans who are one doctor's bill away from bankruptcy, especially the 11 million children who have no health care at all. That is what the American people want us to debate with passion, not the rules of the Senate but the legitimacy and the substance of those choices. That is what we ought to do.

Felt needs anybody?

1. But he didn't say they were the party of good ideas
Doesn't he remember that last time he stood on stage with a Democrat each listing their ideas. Is the Kerry statement a response to Bush - it sounds realy good, and has more thoughts (and compassion) in it than Bush could muster in 4 years if he tried hard.

2. I took it from the Sente speech last week on the Senate floor
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 08:27 PM by TayTay
when Kerry was pissed because of the whole 'Just Us Sunday to Show that Jesus Hates Filibusters.' (That wonderful speech that C-Span2 wouldn't reshow, grump, grump, grump.

You can find the words to any speech John Kerry (or any other Senator) has made since 1989 at the thomas site: http://thomas.loc.gov/home/r109query.html

Ain't technolgy grand?
EDIT: Any Senate floor speech, that is? This is the electronic Congressional record.

5. Extremism gives the illusion of being the party of ideas
Liberalideals have become widely accepted, and are actually graudually winning out despite the short term political gains of the Republicans. Ideals which have been around for a long time, and which are widely accepted, don't necessarily look like having new ideas.

On the other hand, the Republicans desire radical changes in society (for the worse). They want to make major changes, making it appear they have more ideas.
