Two Kerry/Edwards vids

First, I got permission from my friend to share her Kerry/Edwards vid "Dreams", which I think is absolutely gorgeous. This one is based on photos, not moving clips, but it uses the still photos to great effect; it's awesome. It's only about 20MB, and you can get it here:

Second, I rendered my Kerry/Edwards vid "Bring Me To Life" into MPEG2 format. It's a much larger file now, but the advantage is it's higher resolution -- it'll still look kinda blurry on a very large screen (some clips especially, that's just how they were to begin with), but you can play it quite a bit larger than the other one and it'll still look pretty good. And the still photos and some close-up clips will look very good even in a fairly large window. This one is 120 MB, and you can get it here:

Each of these YouSendIt links is good for about 25 downloads and about 7 days. If either one runs out, let me know and I can upload again. Eventually I want to find a nice stable webpage home for Kerry/Edwards tribute vids, but for now, this method seems to work for sharing.

I keep forgetting to mention -- there's one bit in my vid that may not make sense at first glance, but I loved it so much I decided to leave it in and hope some people would figure out what's going on. It's in the last chorus, on the line "call my name and save me from the dark" -- it freezes on JK with his hands up in the air. What's going on is that a little tiny girl has thrown her arms around his legs to hug him, and she has such a blissful smile on her face, I just had to include it. But I only had literally 1 second of footage, so I froze on the last frame to give people a chance to see her. But you have to look way down, because she's so tiny next to JK.

Which is awesome, BTW.
I did notice the little girl. I think it's a nice touch. All of his pics with children seem very genuine.

You're the first person so far who's told me she noticed the little girl. I've pointed her out to 3 other people who missed her. It was such an adorable moment, though, I decided I just had to leave it in, even if a certain percentage of viewers don't know what the point is. :)

Kerry has a way with kids, its his paternal instinct, kids can feel that so well. I love your videos, oh what America is missing. I think I watched about every townhall and rally I could and went to 4 Kerry events myself, and at every one I felt in the crowd itself hope and optimism. Thanks again, you should pass these across the blogosphere.

I think the thing is that he actually likes being around kids. I remember seeing pics of him with kids on the campaign trail(s) and he would bend down to their level and talk with them like they're people and not just kids. You can feel such a positive energy with Kerry.

I've never heard of that -- YouSendIt requiring a login and a password. It's the first time I've ever heard of such a thing. It's getting stranger and stranger.

I'd really like to find a way to get you the larger version, though, because it's a lot better. I'll try again when I get home later today.

This one worked for me. It is the zipped version. Still takes a long time!

It's weird. It downloaded fine, but it won't play on my version of quicktime (mac 7.0.1). Anyone else have that problem? I didn't have any trouble at all with the smaller film.

Mac -- Quicktime -- I had some trouble with that on my friend's Mac yesterday, but I thought it was just his computer. I have some conversion software, and I'm going to see if I can get the better-resolution version converted to Quicktime. I'll let you know.

play in? I have realplayer and windows player too, but they don't recognize the format either.

the extension to .wmv It should open in Windows Media Player. But I'm going to try saving it in a couple of other formats too.

I have tried downloading it twice, and it won't play for me either :(.

I have Windows Media Player and Real Player. I could get "Dreams" in fine, just not the other one. :(

I downloaded from ND's original link, then saved the extracted (non-zip) version to my computer, then opened it with Quick Time, which I also turn out to have.

Great video montage! And my 22 y.o. will like it better than the other one (Dream), which she claims has "church music". Will show her when she gets home.

I didn't mention this in the thread about the "Life" video, but this one (Dreams) makes me feel sad. This was my first time voting and I remember being so optimistic on 11/2 until I went to the grocery store. That's when one of the workers said that Bush had a 32-3 EV lead over Kerry. Ironically, some Kerry/Edwards supporters shop there, but I haven't been back there since.

Anyway, I didn't watch any news. I decided to follow it from the K/E blog. Anyway, I know I am probably making everyone sad again, but it feels like all the optimism that was here a year ago seems gone, and I don't know if we will ever experience anything like that again.
