But it is a perfunctory session. A resolution will be passed to fund emergency financing to FEMA of $10 billion. It will be passed by unanimous consent, as most Senators are not yet in DC.

It's a start. And I dearly hope that some Dems are there to speak up and speak out.

who was a little too sweet about the whole thing - I actually left the room. He was saying "the people of America need to come together, just like after 9/11..." And he said the questions that are being asked are not falling on deaf ears...blah blah blah.

What I wanted him to say was GOD FORBID WE EVER HAVE ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK IN THIS COUNTRY, WE CAN'T EVEN HANDLE A NATURAL DISASTER!

This session was obviously scripted in advance, down to who would speak and for how long. The Rethugs promised to get a bill on the Idiot's desk by 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. In return, the Dems withheld fire, for the greater good of getting the funding over with.

The Dems felt to me like they were very, very controlled. Like a person would be if they were holding something back.

We have said that the immediate need is to secure the Gulf area, rescue those who are still alive and in deadly peril and to see to the needs of those who are suffering. That's the pulling together part. Fine.
