"It's The End of The World As We Know It" (R.E.M.)

Today I heard this song on the radio for the first time in a long time, and listened to this 1980's classic with 21st century ears. Wow! Of course as with a lot of R.E.M. songs, I'm not always quite sure what the hell they are talking about, but this song contains certain words and phrases that freaked me out today. (Ex: "Offer me solutions, Offer me alternatives and I decline.")
