How depressing this is
Is Kerry really getting more negative feedback than positive feedback on this speech? Good God, WHY? I could cry. I hate these people. I don't even want to be associated with the "left-wing blogosphere" any more. It disgusts me as much as the freepers. You people are the only saving grace in this whole bucket of slime. Ugh.

1. I'm depressed by the lack of TV coverage
I was checking out Countdown tonight on MSNBC, and I NEVER watch cable news so you can see how desperate I was, and they said they were going to have a segment on the political fallout of Katrina. I hit record, and checked it out later only to hear a MENTION of John Kerry's speech with NO TV PICTURES. Instead they made fun of John Kerry and John Edwards giving speeches within 3 hours of each other. Then they ONLY showed television pictures of Edwards. Okay, I haven't ever paid as much attention to politics as I have now. Does this mean that some of the greatest speeches ever written/spoken may have happened and we MISSED it, because the MSM just decided not to cover it? I mean, yeah, he was in the big papers, but if you're not on regular TV, you may as well be dead!!!

So which is worse, WEL, being trashed in the left wing blogosphere or being ignored in the MSM TV Land? I'll probably sound like a baby, now, but darnit -- it's just not fair. Why does stupidity reign on TV news, while the good guys aren't even given a chance? I was so excited when I got John Kerry's e-mail!!! Why wasn't the rest of the world sitting up and taking notice, too??

If anyone gets word that C-SPAN covered the event and is planning on airing it, please let me know. Because I really want to see that speech, even if something so great will have been heard by so few . . .

It's just sad people are so misinformed. Unfortunately it may continue as long as the GOP owns the press.:(

BTW: Best wishes beachmom. Hope everything turns out ok. :hi:

but you won't here it on MSM or in the blogosphere.

I always go back to the early days of the primaries, and it was the same thing MSM ignored and the blogosphere was Deaniac haven. But who came out on top John Kerry. The first time I ever saw him was in Feb. 2004 in Chesapeake, Va. It was also the first time I saw the reality of who was for John Kerry. People traveled from all over to hear him speak, I think over 1500 people showed up, my son couldn't get in because there was no place to park. I stood for 2 hours before he came talking to average Americans not blogospherians or pundits, and the words that came out were caring, intelligent, the best candidate we've had in years, and down right Presidential.

So when I get depressed and want to scream bloody murder I always remember those days. Those people are still showing up and still have his back, it shows just by the reports of the crowds he gets wherever he goes. So as Kerry always says he doesn't go by polls, well I don't go by blogospherians or MSM.

These naysayers are the same old crowd from way back when, they lost once and they will lose again. But to me I have not loss anything, I went with my gut and my heart, and I found a person who represents not only my interests but the interests of this country and cares about the future of my kids and all the kids of this country. John Kerry gave me the inspiration to speak out and to fight to get our country back, and no naysayer will ever take that away from me. I call them pessimists, and pessimism will never get us anywhere.

Just my 2 cents.

17. Your post is so true.
Wherever Kerry goes, people follow.

That's why I think we need to get things going from here.

We need to get this out in the media.
The only coverage I have heard has been how him and Edwards had speeches withing hours of each other, and how ironic it was to see Kerry / Edwards in the headlines.

5. Hey, Sen. Kerry mentioned getting more active
in this speech and going out and getting more press. This was a beginning salvo, not the end of the war.

Give it time. The media is dumber than a bag of rocks, but they will eventually show more Kerry. He has to show up on the 'approved' programs. And it's coming.

And so does everyone here. You're 'our' WEL. Stay with us, we will be there for you.

And we love Kerry. We love to analyze him, analyze his speeches, try and figure out what on his mind and what he's going to do next. And we have really, really good picutres. So, we are here for you.

There, that should buck you up.

9. Think of them as you'd think of a
broken record. Repetitive and stuck, but ultimately nothing but an annoyance. Those people are so out of it they don't even know where "it" is located.

Don't let them get to you. They are proud of their ignorance, and they reinforce each other. They haven't got a clue.

And don't even look at those polls!! They are utterly, utterly meaningless. Been there. Just check out Joe Lieberman's poll standings in, say, June 2003. That should tell you something.

13. TayTay, whome, thanks everyone
Thanks for your encouraging words. Last night's speech was so incredible; if I smoked, I'd have needed a whole pack. :smoke: It was so beautiful yet so hard hitting, and I was sure people would realize that he is the one we've all been waiting for. But of course not. But of course, you all are correct; John is far, far more popular and the blogosphere nutcases are meaningless. He gave me back my idealism; they stab good people in the back and deal in pessimism as if it were a black market drug. Well, I'm not buying any of their shit.

Hmm, maybe a photo thread is in order.

John Kerry speaks on Main Street campaign rally in Hannibal Missouri
Democratic Presidential nominee Senator John Kerry stands in front of an American flag before being introduced at a Main Street campaign rally in Hannibal, Missouri, August 4, 2004. President George W. Bush and Democratic rival Kerry hunted for votes within blocks of each other in the swing state of Iowa on Wednesday by touting their leadership and trading jabs on the economy and security.

21. Thanks for that!
I need some Kerry Lovin' and some Kerry hugs from Y'all! I've been on the GD most of the day, and everything there it seems is very depressing to me today! I've been doing some research for my towns slate of Dem. candidates. I posted my first thread on GD today, and wish I had thought to do it sooner!! I was asking for help, and information about a group called "ALEC" Wasted a whole week trying to get info on Google, to no avail. Thanks to DU I got enough information to hang this Repuke we are running against, and ample ammunition for some good debates. My town has been run by Repukes for too long!! We are going to take it back, and here is where it all starts. In home towns at the grass roots level. We are also working on getting a good candidate to run against Nancy Johnson, the so called author of the new Medicare bill, which SUCKS!!! I'm very tired, and my sleeping pill is starting ti kick in.( just a mild anti -anxiety pill, so I can get my brain to shut down at night) I've had insomnia since I lost my hubby 3 yrs. ago. Needless to say "I don't do mornings" If I've mispelled anything , "screw it" i don't feel like editing tonight! talk to ya again soon, and KEEP THE FAITH!! Remember, " John, John, he's our MAN, if he can't do it, NO ONE CAN"!!! Can I get an AMEN???? love DC

22. Hey DC, I think I must have used to live near you in Conn.!
Nancy Johnson was my representative in my hometown in CT until redistricting changed that a few years ago. I actually met her a LONG time ago when my high school band played on the steps of the Capitol back in the '80s. I remember at the time that we didn't have so good a "gig", and Ms. Johnson said we played wonderfully, and I was thinking "oh, what a politician!!". Now I'm in deep red Virginia, and it's sad to say, but if we could have a Democrat like Nancy Johnson we'd be lucky, that's how right wing conservative it is here!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your husband 3 years ago. I hope that you have been able to come out of the darkness of grief and been able to see some of the light in the world again.

I've enjoyed reading your posts!

23. "GO TOWARDS THE LIGHT!!
Thanks Beachmom, for your kind words of support! I don't think I'll ever get over the loss of my "Soulmate" we were together one year short of 40! But I have wonderful memories, and I dream about him often. Sometimes I don't want to wake up!! But I know we'll be together again ...someday! DU and especially this forum is helping to fill this VOID!! Yes, we were in the same district, but I don't know how close we were. I'm in Litchfield County, and although Ct. isn't the largest State, the miles between seem so long!! Maybe it's just my age, but I'd guess I've ventured down into New Haven county (from where I moved after my husband died) a total of perhaps 5 times in two years. I have kids in my immediate area, which is why I moved up here. They also fill a large part of the void. One of the first things I did when I relocated, was join the Thomaston Dem. town committee. This part of the state is very Republican. Right now I'm involved in all kinds of fundraisers atc. to support our Slate. We vote for our local leaders this Nov. Then next year we have to work on getting a Dem. Gov. again (after our laughing stock John Roland got convicted and sent to jail!!) HEY!! .....there's hope for all of the Country!! So let's all keep on, keeping on!! HUGS TO YOU and ALL on JK FORUM!!:grouphug: DC

24. I went to high school in Winsted, Ct (end of the line Rte. 8), and
we played Thomaston, when I was on the tennis team!! A beautiful area you live in. I didn't realize it was that Republican there. My little town I come from is Republican, too, but I don't know, for me there's a BIG difference between New England Republicans and southern Republicans -- probably the religious right factor, a major turn off to a lot of pro-business Republicans up North. Anyway, this forum is great in the small worldness of it all -- chatting both with people from my area here in Virginia as well as the area where I was born back in Conn. By the way, you do know that our governor, Mark Warner, grew up in Vernon, Conn., right? A friend of mine, who is a Republican, worked on the first Rowland campaign (the one he lost), so when I was up there a couple of weeks ago, it was very much a touchy subject! Unfortunately, she voted for Bush in Nov. -- I had thought for sure she would have felt forced to cross over with his religious right butt kissing, but she disappointed me in her blatant partisanship over reason (I mean, I'm sorry, Bush is NO small government conservative, that's for sure). But even she agreed that Republicans down South were a bit weird, so I made a little progress with her there! Good luck with your elections in Conn., and here's hoping Tim Kaine can squeak out a victory here in Virginia!

Only have time for a few lines now, but , my oldest daughter lives on Whetmore Ave. in Winsted, right across from Gilbert School!! I have twin grandsons who are sophmores this year at Winsted High!! We have a Ct. congressman who lives in Thomaston that wants to run for First selectman in town, and still hold his job with the state!! His name is John Piscopo. He's been bragging that he was selected "legislater of the year by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and my research has turned up that it's a glorified "JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY"!! I've got to get two more articles printed out by 7PM, so I'll talk to you all later!! Love, DC

It was General "Fightin' Joe" Stillwell's personal motto. He lead American forces in the China-Burma-India theatre; one of the more forgotten combat zones. Needless to say the logistic and organizing capabilities of that man were immense.
