Today was also about Alito and the 'nukular opshun'
When Harry Reid assumed the mantle of Minority Leader in the Senate, it was noted that he is an 'expert' in the Rules of the Senate. Reid is serving notice to the Repubs and Rethugs that knows a ton of ways to 'shut down the Senate' in the event that the nuclear option is detonated. And it won't be pretty.

He is one tough hombre, I'll tell you that. Did anyone read the profile of him that ran in the New Yorker a while back. He is relatively vengeful, doesn't take slights at all well and has the memory of an, well, elephant. He may have a softish voice, but that belies a fairly mean pol who plays for keeps.

Kudos to Pinky. Go get 'em honey. I got your back.

1. Yep.
Another thing - intentional or just a happy side-effect - was that it brought attention back to the CIA leak case and Libby's - "the vice-president's chief of staff" - indictment. Just when the M$M was looking like it was going to slip into "all Alito, all the time."

2. Delaying hearings until 2006
I just read that a few minutes ago. Keep Plame in the forefront, keep O'Connor on the court for some important cases, keep hammering away at their radicalism. I agree, they are playing for keeps here and Harry is just incredible. I'm beginning to think Harry's got a whole deck up his sleeve, not just an ace or two.

3. Watching Harry Reid is like watching a master chess player at work.

Every move he makes seems to be very methodical, and he always appears to be thinking two moves ahead.

Another thing I love about Harry Reid (as well as Kerry and many other Democrats) is that they almost always appear cool, calm and collected. Sure they get pissed off sometimes with just the right amount of snarkiness and righteous indignation thrown in for good measure, but very rarely do they go Ted Stevens on ya or whine like Bill Frist. There is something to be said for leaders who actually act like I don't know - oh yeah, grown-ups!

4. I saw the replay of Reid's press avail this evening
What a tough dude! I could almost see the ten-gallon hat and six-shooters, like Gary Cooper in "High Noon". If I were Frist I'd be looking for places to hide. Harry's in take-no-prisoners mode. And his weapon? The Truth. Gets 'em every time!
