Kerry to campaign in New Hampshire for Democrats

MANCHESTER, N.H. Massachusetts Senator John Kerry returns this weekend to New Hampshire where he campaigned for the presidency, but this time he will be seeking votes for other Democrats.
Kerry headlines a rally tomorrow for the re-election of Manchester Mayor Bob Baines and other Democrats running in critical 2005 elections.

After the rally, Kerry will visit with friends in New Hampshire before heading off for a political visit to Vermont.

1. Well, NH and VT will have awesome foliage this weekend
so there should be some picture perfect rally moments. (Didn't Sen. Kerry say at one point he was a 'foliage nut'? Well, the color is spectacular right now, so that's good.)

Maybe a little birdie (and not necessarily me) from this group will go on up to the Queen City of Manchester and have a look see. (Manchester is a great town. I like that city.)

Godd the Kerry for supporitng our good Dems up and down the coast. I hope they get resounding victories next week. (Fingers crossed.)

I've got a weekend-long workshop to attend. So I probably won't be around much online either.

3. NJ's is possibly up in the air, although he polled + 10-12 points
Starting last night, Forrester is using comments from newspapers from Corzine's ex-wife, that "just like he let our family down, he'll let NJ down." in a dramatization in a campaign ad - likely to play through Tuesday. She has told the Newark Star Ledger and the NYT that the compromises and deals he made with the party boss's compromised the values he (and she had held).

The problem is that this dovetails with the whole concern of corruption and buying the election. Among Democrats, I've heard many say Corzine's money gave him all the bosses' backing and froze the acting Governor, Cody out even before the primary.

The other problem is that it's the governship. Many people thought Torrechelli, who had far more real ethical problems, because most people wanted a Democrat in the seat to stop Bush. That's not an issue in the governorship. The other thing is that there is currently a healthy majority of Democrats in the legislature. My concern is that people may think he can't do much harm with the Democratic legislature as a balance. ( shades of Massachusetts ) NJ's constitution gives a lot of power to the Democrats.

It is possible that her comments will be treated as those of a bitter ex-wife. The previous conventional wisdom was that the break up, though not amicable, was at least, civil. Maybe, Kerry (as he did last time) focusing on what Corzine has actually done in public life - which is more pertinent- may be able to retain some people on the fence. As to Corzine himsef, I'm not sure what he can do.
