I won't often do this, and it's not a Kerry-related thread so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules here.

This is the kind of post I would love to see more of at DU. With an election on Tuesday, it is timely. It is also very well-written, despite a little generic swipe at people who supposedly didn't complain loud enough about fraud in 2004.

So for those of you who are staying out of GD, I thought I would let you know that despite all the lies, trash, hate and general crap that is bandied about out there at times, there are still some good posts that deserve support. You can click on the link, recommend it, and then just scurry back here where life is more pleasant. And your vote may help more people see this excellent statement - which some of the lefty freepers may need to see, as sad as that seems.

me that a thread about making the effort to cast a vote, despite flaws/fraud in the system, needs to be recommended? Isn't making that effort a no-brainer?

Thanks for posting this! It might not be about Kerry specifically, but it is about the things he's fighting for.

One of the biggest and most effective lies the Right Wing spin machine spreads is that all politicians are the same and that a vote for one is meaningless as they are all the same. This depresses both the discussion and the vote. It's an insidious way of getting people to stay home and not advocate for change. (Hey, it's never going to happen anyway, cuz they are all alike.)
