I'm a happy camper
My mayor won and three out of four of my town commissioner candidates won. One of our town commissioners passed away unexpectedly last week (heart attack) and today she received more votes than any of the others. That is quite a tribute. We will miss her presence. She was a terrific lady and she represented the town's African American community very well for many years. Now someone will be appointed by the town commissioners to take her place, most likely (from what I've heard) her son who is also fantastic.

1. Congratulations!
Overall, it's not a bad night. Ohio hurts though. The actual people from Ohio are claiming that the ROn amendments lost because the State Dem Committee stayed out of the fight and thought that the corruption charges were enough to just hand everything to the Dems. Not so. (The margins of victory, btw, are too high for fraud to effeect the end-result. Low turnout and ballot confusion on questions that took up to two pages to read seem to be the biggest factors.) Get 'em next time.

3. Yeah, I read those measures, holy snikey
They were written by liberals all right. On and on and on. Too bad because they were well meaning. That's where I think a little centrist thinking comes in handy. Identify objections and overcome them, clarify, prioritize, and for heaven's sake, shorten. I don't see that they would have effected the kind of immediate change needed at the local and machine level either.

4. Awesome!
It's fun to have your candidates win. Only 2 of mine did last year, locally. Better than none I guess. I don't know whether we will let the casino hook up to city water or not yet, that's my exciting ballot!

5. Good news
:toast:

The pundits here are talking about the surprises, they say the Dems did well because of Bush's numbers and people are tired of negatiove campaigning. Attorney General race is still to close to call, crossing fingers. The Dem for Lt. Gov. got 49.09% of the vote, and Atty Gen. right now is (R) 50.08%, (D) 49.83%. Its a nail biter.
