Hello, new to this board
My name is MonteLukast, I'm from Denver, and I'm a BIG Kerry supporter.

I first fell in love with the Senator after reading his profile in the Newsweek and Time of July 2004-- the former said, "Inside the mind of John Kerry" or something like that. I instantly clicked when I read about how much he loves politics, public life, and this country; my feelings deepened when I came to see his vitality and versatility.

John Kerry is a solution to Americans' over-specialized, limited self-concepts. In addition to everything he embodies about courage, patriotism and style, he's an example of masculinity without machismo, of joyful intellectualism. I will always have him in the back of my mind to remind me to beware of the immediate, knee-jerk and incomplete response; to always look at all sides of the story.

I'm glad to finally be a part of this group, a save haven from all the Kerry-bashing and off-writing I see too much of. Good to meet you.

MonteLukast

I am a HUGE fan of your Harry Potter fanfics. SMALL WORLD!!!!!

Edit: How rude of me! :hi: Welcome! It's nice to know that you love dear, beloved John, as well. (BTW, Snape is my favorite character too. Sorry to make this so Harry Pottery, but I saw your name and I was like OMG.)

3. Nice to meet you!!
Glad you like them. Sorry I haven't written HP fics in a while... I still love Snape/Hermione, though, and have a few ideas still.

I wonder how Hermione would get along with John, though?? *speculates*

6. It's ok, I haven't really read any fics for over a year
I did read 3 or 4 of your stories then though, and was a big fan. I love it when I find that I share multiple passionate interests with people. BTW, I'm 20, and I know how *I'd* get along with John  if that's any indication ;)

8. I also write...
Initial D fanfics. (Anime about street racing). By any chance, might you be a fan of that too?

9. Have not read any, sorry.
This is inspiring me to start reading HP fics again - I was an ADDICT last year, especially after OOTP came out. Damn. (It's getting late so I'm getting less coherent. I'm usually more articulate than this, LOL.)

18. WEL, did you ever visit my HP site? (sorry, guys, more Harry Potter stuff)
http://www.hogwarts-dreaming.net.tc

My daughter Julie dragged me in the Potter fandom. She was crazy about Harry since she was 10 and I - of course!*g* - love Snape too. It was fun to share that passion with my daughter. Well... I guess, she now also shares a bit my love for John Kerry; especially since she met him last May.

26. Hi, welcome.
This is rather funny to see all this Harry Potter chat on this thread.

So who in our American politics represents 'he who can't be mentioned'?

A. Bush
B. Cheney
C. Rove
D. Libby
E. All Republicans

27. LOL, ray
For me it's Cheney, he's the Dark Lord. Bush is too stupid for that role. The Republicans are the Death Eaters. And Rove is definitely Peter Pettigrew, the rat! Isn't there a kind of resemblance?

32. Ah...now we know Jk's original
source for her ideas. She followed them around and watched them. Later she decided to use them in her HP books.

4. More than that...
... from what I could see, it's a haven in every sense of the word. It's a breath of fresh air after DKos, of which I'm also a member.

Sometimes I have to wonder if some of those people believe in human potential at all. The sheer swiftness with which they're willing to throw Kerry away, and the using of every justification in the book.
"No spine", wimp, Republican-lite, etc...
My personal favorite? "Senators don't make good Presidents."

Right. And you gotta have political experience since elementary school to make it in politics.
Why don't I just ask John Hickenlooper about that one. Never ran for office before his mayoral run. Not even for class president.

And the whole "he was programmed to throw the election by Skull And Bones" thing? Puh-lease. "He was programmed." BIG red flag right there. Sounds like a rejected plotline for Johnny Mnemonic. (Remember that movie?)

5. Welcome! I'm pretty new here too.
You'll love it! Not only is it a haven of support, people here go out and defend Kerry outside the forum. It is like "Warriors for Kerry." We all have a bit of Zena in us when Senator Kerry is attacked.

15. Welcome, Montelukast
I love the way newcomers will come, and in their own words tell why they love JK. It always comes from their hearts, and cannot be contained in any talking points. Your words are an inspiration, Montelukast, because they bring me back for me why I decided to believe in JK in the first place. Thanks!

17. It really IS a small world!
Welcome to the Kerry group, MonteLukast! We knew each other a few years ago on the WIKTT group. I don't know if you remember me; my name is Bettina and my Harry Potter site was (well, still is, but I don't update anymore) http://www.hogwarts-dreaming.net.tc . I read your name a while ago on D-Kos and was curious if you were the same person from the HP fandom. Well, here's the answer. *g*

I'm one of the few European Kerry supporters and became interested in American politics when I spent a few months in the US last year before and after the election. I was as sad as my American friends when Kerry lost and I still hope he will get another chance.

This group here is the greatest online community I've ever met and I'm very happy to be a modest member who doesn't post that much but always reads the great comments of all the intelligent and knowledgeable people here.

What a small world! I never posted anything though. Still, how random is that?

I will check out your HP fansite later tonight, but right now I have an exam (yuck).

So glad to meet you. It's amazing what a new member brings to the JK group. I had no idea about the Harry Potter fans here.
OK, I, too, will admit to the Snape thing, but only because I've been an Alan Rickman fan for some time.
What a wonderful description of the Senator, BTW.
You're going to love it here. Hope you like picture threads. It's a regular Friday night event.

29. Hi!!!
Welcome aboard! :hi:

Another Potter fan here, although I don't share the Snape-lust (but don't think he's really Voldemort's man either)... instead I keep the renegade son of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black alive in my mind :P

However, Kerry's my true crush.

Oh, and I see you're new to DU as well... so welcome to DU too! :hi:

Always great to have another Kerry fan on board.
It makes me feel great to know that there is another person that understands Kerry, and why he will be the best Prez ever!

I am totally lost in the Harry Potter talk, one of my kids is a Potter fanatic.
