ANOTHER UPDATE (Boston, Dec. 11th)

Ok, scratch that. My very cool, liberal, Kerry-loving friend Jill is coming. Originally, the plan was that I was going away for a "ladies' weekend" and my husband offered to come along if none of my girlfriends could go. Well, Jill called me tonight and we are in... OH AND...

WE HAVE OUR PLANE TICKETS!

Steve is not broken hearted, since he can save some money this way, and we don't have to worry about arranging care for our pets, and he doesn't have to miss any work.

So....it's all good.

He and I decided to go on a romantic tropical jaunt in January instead!

Does this change anything about what we PM'ed? I probably will arrive on Saturday but could come in late on Friday if necessary. No pressure ;), but I just don't want to put off this ticket purchase much longer, or the cost will go through the roof.

Yes, you can bunk up with Jill and I - it will be the three of us sharing the room. We are arriving Friday leaving Monday, so we have the room for three nights. You can come in whenever it's convenient for you. The cost of the room was about $170 per night - I really don't recall what the taxes were - that's the base cost, but I am not really interested in splitting hairs over taxes. If you can afford pitch in some, that would be great, but just do what you can, if you can.

Northwest airlines gave me a GREAT deal round trip from Sacramento to Boston. I booked straight from their site at www.nwa.com last night. It was cheaper than the discount travel sites! You can also choose your seat on the plane.

It's going to be mighty depressing that weekend around du.

That weekend is the winter formal for my girls, and a holiday party for me.
Dam. But I am a mom first. Two teenage girls. Gotta be home to help
with their getting ready, and then to gush about how beautiful they are.

I really am depressed about the timing of all this. When I found out, I just wanted to scream. Was just about ready to order those tickets. But I expect lots of pics from all of you.

I hope such a party will be thrown every year.

i can't either. if it was on Friday or Saturday i would have made it.but since i'm busy Monday morning i wont have time for the Sunday event.

i do hope there are similar events in the future.

And stories. (Oh dear, my Catholic guilt is being invoked. I'm really sorry that everyone can't come. Oh dear.)

Anything that we can do to make it better? Snap up any programs or hand-outs? Ahm, try for sigs for people (don't know if that can happen. There might be many people there and the Senator's time will be at a premium.)

And all your accounts, of course! *g* And I too hope that there will be more of these occasions to see John Kerry in the future. There are no affordable plane tickets right now, so I have to stay home. :-( It's sad, but Julie and I just decided tonight to spend New Year's Eve with some old friends in London and watch a good play when we are there. No replacement for a meet-up with you guys and Kerry but still... better than nothing.

I will keep my eyes open and see if I hear of anything. I believe that Vanessa Kerry has finished her post-doc work in London and will be back in the States, so there might be less trips to the UK. (Sigh!)

How are we shaking out for this? Do we have rooms for all? Are there any spaces?
