Anyone listening to the nitwit?
I'm listening parially - through Stephanie Miller. Love the heckling.

Best new word so far: "massacured."

1. I was happy to hear he wanted to bring "justice to our ennemies".
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 10:28 AM by Mass
Not sure what he meant by that, though.

Except that, still same old, same old.

I am listening thru Stephanie Miller, though, so it prevents me from falling asleep.

2. That was one
L-O-N-G and boring speech. Did he actually say anything? If he did, I missed it. Only the heckling and the malapropisms kept me from falling asleep.

3. Same old, same old
We need to finish this, cuz if we don't it will look like I made a mistake. God won't let me make mistakes. Therefore, anyone who wants to 'cut and run' is against freedom and puppies and flags.

This is about it. We can't cut and run, cuz I want their oil. These are volunteer troops, so they got what was coming to them.

Gawd I dislike this man.

5. I missed the speech because I had some unavoidable things to do
Did he really point out they were volunteers? Especially for the NG what they got is really not what they signed up for.

6. No, but he doesn't care.
A caller on C-Span did. She was talking about how great * is and how God says we need to obey authority figures and how they are all volunteers anyway.

Honestly, these people.

Why are Democrats always late. (Oh yeah, it's cuz they like to make sure that what they are saying is worth hearing, well thought out and makes good sense. Geez, the nerve.)

I love this. He brought up how nasty it is to use the troops as a backdrop. Oh, that's great.

10. * did what he always does
make up a fake threat and then take it down.

Oh, go get 'em JK. This is awesome. He says that * is using the strawman argument and making stuff up. The debate is not about 'cut and running.' It's about 'how to win and how to succeed.'

Oh snap again!

11. He is also bringing up the disconnect
between the Generals and the White House. This is really awesome. He's not reading off a script, this is a news conference statement. Nice.

Wow! You guys have to see this later on, if you don't have C-Span access in the daytime. C-Span is repeating after *'s speech tonight. (Starts at 8:00 pm.) Really nice job.

12. He was great.
He was so f***ing presidential.

Did you note the irony of the press needing to ask questions of Kerry and Reed that they would ask of the pRez, if only he ever gave them any actual answers. "Tell me, sir, how is the war going, really?"

Anyone who saw the speech followed by this press conference would be confused as to who the actual president is. And why.

13. True that.
He is Presidential looking. And his comments were precise and dead-on.

Wonderful appearance. (Both of them.)

14. I watched * because I knew I'd be getting a JK antidote
I've decided to look the nasty guy in the face and not be scared. We know he's a paper tiger now anyway.

First thing--the coke-jaw was very active today. Heard about that in GD? His jaw moves to the left between words. It's a kind of brain damage coke users get. Overall he looked very weak--not unlike Captain Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny".

New word: rejectionists! It's not insurgents, silly--that seems to give them too much credibility, according to Rummy. Now we are to call them rejectionists. (is that even a word??)

Of course we were treated to the obligatory drum-beating on War on Terror, September 11th, war-war-war, London! Bali! They're everywhere! They are in your underwear drawer!!

And as Sen. Kerry pointed out--he only talked about the military solution (that's the only kind of strategy you can learn from watching the old John Wayne cavalry vs. Indians movies, after all--so what's a chimp to do?)

About 20 min into his speech, the pres--ee-dint started looking definitely tired. Geeze, and so far to go until the end...

After the speech was hilarious--as a caller on Cspan pointed out, he is so cowardly he still used his massive security team, even while shaking hands with his OWN military!! LOL.

--------

Sens. Reed and Kerry were great. Back to reality now, America--here is how the prez has led you into La-la Land.

Reed: This speech does not answer the questions the Senate has. Where's the plan?

Kerry: This speech was another aircraft-carrier moment. He only talks in front of troops. He draws a false line to make his case. These are America's troops, not HIS. He won't admit that our troops in Iraq are part of the problem--everyone else knows this. The Democrats aren't for leaving a failed state, no matter what the other side tries to say.

Kerry: Murtha and the rest of us are all moving in the same direction. It doesn't demoralize the troops--they say "thanks for speaking out". We've been proven correct over and over--and I am completely comfortable fighting for our troops.

Reed: The prez had to give this speech because of the people, not Murtha. And you can see how the Senate is putting pressure on him, too.

Kerry: The prez painted a statistical but unrealistic picture about the troops. He ignores the political/diplomatic part of the solution and only talks about the military part.

17. okay--he said:
The speech was more of the same.
They are putting lipstick on the administration's same old plan.
We still need a plan.

Nobody on the Democratic side is saying "cut and run". This is an old McCarthyist trick--state the opponent's position in error, and then strongly disagree with it.

22. Audio of Kerry's speech
Well, I sat through Bush's speech while doing something else - as always. ;-) And then I turned my full intention to Kerry and Reid. When Kerry started to speak my first thought was: Wow, nobody else can debunk Bush's doublespeak so well!

I registered the whole press conference as audio file but just put Kerry's opening speech online because the quality isn't really good. C-Span will repeat the whole thing and will certainly put the video online on its site later, but if meanwhile you want to listen to Kerry's speech, you can download the audio here (sorry, it's Windows Media again):

I just listened.

A day ago someone posted an article criticizing both parties for not acknowledging what the Iraqis want. Kerry has made that clear time and again, but he emphasized it (with the numbers) in this rebuttal. That article was another case of people just putting BS in writing.

25. I caught the press conference earlier and he was awesome!
I was especially heartened when he directly replied to * saying that if you opposed his policies you were surrendering to suicide bombers. Kerry said that was a false debate!! I would love to see him debate * now -- since the prez might have gone back to drinking he will be even worse this time around.

Another part I liked was when Kerry talked about how he came back from Vietnam in 1969, but didn't demonstrate until 1971, when "a lot more names were added to the Wall". I do like it when he quite candidly will talk about the past which he is very comfortable with.

I checked cable, and CNN and Fox covered the press conference, before cutting away for the Q & A portion, but it appears that MSNBC either didn't cover it or maybe cut away a little quicker after their opening remarks.

I also liked that JK referred to "we", as in "we Democrats believe . . . ". And the best was when he talked about getting the whole region involved, and mentioned that Sen. Biden had also spoke out on that. It goes back to my beef with The Economist acting like it was Biden's original idea, when at the least, all the Democrats have been saying it for a long time (it seems that Kerry said it first).

Overall, more bull**** from *, and more truth speaking from our own Shadow President.
