I rarely see him with his foot in his mouth.

a college age Kerry at a large outdoor party. In an aside, he mentioned that when people started to dance (I think the Charleston) Kerry was the best dancer there. Although it was the least of what we lost, I thought of that when Bush "danced" about a total of 5 minutes with Laura at the inaugural ball. Imagine Teresa and John Kerry.

I mean, we are not shy, but anyone could have talked to, or gotten near him. He's always going to be swarmed, so you have to be a little assertive to get near him. After growing up the youngest of five siblings, (all tall and huge and way older than me) I learned pretty quickly to shove my way to the front of the buffet table, or get starved, ya know?

In the event anyone REALLY thought we were hogging him, I apologize, but I certainly didn't intend such a thing, or even realize anything of the sort was being perceived.

I never intended my interactions with him to be at the expense of anyone else. I just know that in a mob like the ones that Kerry and the like will attract, you can't be afraid to speak up, though.

Edited to add: It's not inaccurate to say that he talked to us a lot on his own accord. We didn't tell him where to sit or what to do. We spent a lot of time talking to him because he spent a lot of time talking to us, too. WEL and I had finals the next day and he was asking us all about school. The only time I ever approached him at all without him speaking to me first was to say "Hey there's another blogger here who wants a picture with you." When I found out there were some bloggers who didn't get pics, I went up to him on their behalf and said "Will you take a picture with so-and-so?" I did that three times on other peoples' behalf because they seemed apprehensive about doing it and it looked like he was possibly going to leave without getting pics with some folks. I wasn't going to have that. I think I spent quite bit of time asking him to take pictures with other people. I also took several pics on my camera of other folks with him, as the photo album shows.

Believe it or not, I CAN be painfully shy.

BUT:

When it comes to matters of helping my country and my fellow Kerrycrat, I find brass balls when I need to have them. I was actually afraid to ask him and Momma T for pics with me, but I insisted on asking on behalf of those that didn't get a chance. Next time, yes, ask. I will totally help out.
