Couple that with today's post over at Liberal Oasis, and the latest repuke narrative and weak dem response (Schumer and Durbin earn mentions here) comes into sharp focus:

How about mentioning that the Bush Administration took it’s eye off the ball by unnecessarily invading Iraq instead of staying focused on Al Qaeda?

How about arguing that warrantless fishing expeditions are not just illegal, they’re not effective at stopping terrorism?

(Don’t buy that last argument? Check out yesterday’s W. Post op-ed from Michael Hirsh: “...the conducts broad-based surveillance indiscriminately over communications lines that few bad guys even use any longer... the smartest terrorist groups have long since stopped talking about their plans over cell phones or land lines -- or to the extent they do, it's probably to plant disinformation.”)

Neither Schumer or Durbin seized the offensive yesterday.

And if Dems want to win the short-term argument about warrantless spying, and win the long-term argument over which party is better for national security, they better start.

that we can't seem to break - Arabic. We couldn't process the Arabic picked up legitimately how could we sift through all the Arabic spoken by Arabs in America calling friends and family in the ME.

Require that international calls be conducted in English - and none of the fast talking NE stuff spoken with a Boston accent.

2. How about those translators who were dismised for being gay.

We had translators who offended the politically correct culture in the FBI who were let go because they were gay. If national security is so all important to these people then why do they let good translators go just becuase they are gay. This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I don't believe Bush or his cronies on this. I just don't. There is a lot of stuff that doesn't add up here. I think it's just arrogance and Bush and Cheney trying to usurp as much power as possible simply because they thought they would never have to acocunt for themselves. They are that reckless, arrogant and out-of-control.
