Debunking the media stories/spin
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 10:31 PM by politicasista
Does anyone think that Kerry's spokespeople need to release statements that Scotty was wrong about Kerry's economic trip and that it wasn't a "ski-trip" as he said? I guess I am just unhappy that a lot of people will believe that garbage and run with it. I am sick of this corporate owned whore media. :grr:

2. I agree -- we need rapid fire responses to everything
This was on Jim Lehrer, and then David Brooks had to throw in that Kerry should have launched the filibuster while windsurfing (ho, ho, ho -- that was so funny I forgot to laugh).

What about the fact that his rallying cry was on the internet -- the idea was to get US calling all the senators, and he could have done it from Mars, it wouldn't matter!!!!!!! Maybe the response should have been: there's something the WH needs to know about. It's called -- the internet -- maybe you've heard of it, Scotty. You can send a message around the world, no matter where you are.

Ugh. The MSM has completely missed the blog angle to this. Why don't they do their jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7. But they know about international calls
Scott McCellan gave a tutorial on them the other day. They are calls where one end is in the US and one in another country. (It was the most insulting thing I had seen in a while.)

They know about them because they are in trouble for collecting them and listening to them!

I do think it was good that he came back - because it gave him a format for the second speech which had a different focus than the first. (It almost seemed an appeal for real conservatives (libertarians) and very mainstream people. (It would be so cool if he was able to break some of the real conservatives away - it would change the dynamics so quickly.)

I wonder how he could spread some of those words effectively. Parts of it were incredible.

12. they said it on Blitzer
The girl who does the little piece on blogs showed Kerry's diary on Kos, but then made it sound as if he'd been blogging on there since forever. They have to get something wrong, no matter what I suppose.

3. I think they should
because Puffy and the talking heads did not just attack Sen Kerry, they belittled the efforts of every one of the World Economic Summit attendees, including many dignitaries and foreign leaders, as well as a bipartisan group of US Senators.
It was a vile and ignorant statement. I've already e-mailed Miles O'Brien.
Puffy needs a smack-down.

4. True -- the German Chancellor was there and so was Bono
When I told my husband, who is European, that Kerry had been in Switzerland, he said, oh yeah, the Economic Summit. The world knew about it, but our ignorant MSM lets WH propaganda just sit there. You're absolutely right that this continues the "Kerry and his rich wife are elitists and really aren't all that American". Of course, when Mark Shields says he agrees that it was not a good venue, you realize how much the odds are against us.

They need to respond to this bullshit. And they needed to do it 5 minutes after it was said. I'm going to criticise here. They need to respond to this stuff before all of the evening news programs are on, so that there's a more complete He said He said. This was an error made countless times during the campaign. It needs to be corrected.

5. My question, and concern
Who is the democratic leader?
Seriously.
When all is going down for the repugs - there's rover.
The message is out. Look at how they turned the spin around on the
domestic spying. They are walking a fine line of being impeached for violating the
constitution; and yet they are able to turn it around...well at least with 1/2 of the country.
They are always able to do that. We don't have that leader, and that is what is wrong with the
dems.

8. They may have - but the media might not even correct it.
They knew - there's a photo someone posted on another thread here where he's speaking to men with mikes and I think it's right outside the capital.

13. not to mention
how Scotty looked postitively evil as he was saying it. I mean, how piss-nasty can one person be, anyway?? He looked like Jack Nicholson in "Shine"! And then he got a laugh for it from the press corps. :nuke:

9. and they wonder why we turn to the web
to get our information. If we had to rely on the media, we would have believed JK was skiing in Switzerland, and delivering today's speech from the slopes of Davos, too.
But hey, we're just the fringe lefties here, so what do we know.

11. If JK hadn't called for the filibuster
you can bet your house that McCain would have gotten top billing in this very important Switzerland, Economic Summit trip. You may never even have heard that John Kerry was part of the group that went.
