Hey, did anyone know today is National Gorilla Suit Day?
I sure didn't: http://www.povonline.com/National%20Gorilla%20Suit%20Day.htm

National Gorilla Suit Day, which mysteriously falls on January 31 of each year, is perhaps the important holiday of the year. Every National Gorilla Suit Day, people of all shapes and colors around the world get their gorilla suits out of the closet, put them on and go door-to-door.

That's really all there is to it. You don't have to buy gifts. You don't have to fast, although some Orthodox Gorilla Suiters do. If you want to have a parade, fine. Just make sure all the marchers are wearing gorilla suits and that all the balloons are giant, inflatable gorillas.

Today is that Day of Days....

National Gorilla Suit Day!
Yes indeed that sacred holiday when we all dress up as our simian forebearers and celebrate our Rational-Darwinist Heritage.

For a succinct precis' on this most important of holidays, go here.

Now however this great tradition is under assault from decadent land locked elites and corrupt panderers in Washington DC who explicitly DENY that National Gorilla Suit Day has anything to do with the Precious Laws of Natural Selection!
These anti-evolutionary fanatics want to outlaw the traditional National Gorilla Suit Day Greetings such as: "Man is descended from the Ape!" and "Happy Darwin!"
Frantic bearded spook worshippers like Senator Bill Frist and Liddy Dole are TRYING to take Darwin out the holiday and turn it into some sort of revealed-religion costume pageant devoid of all meaning!!!!
DON'T LET THEM DO IT!
American was founded and made strong by MEN who proudly donned simian costumes on National Gorilla Suit Day and PROCLAIMED the truth of Humanity's origins as a simple terrestrial anthropoid from the African plains!
Let us all adopt gorilla garb for one day a year and join hands all over the U.S. Ape to reaffirm our FAITH in science and old timey rationalism!!

1. Theo had a gorilla suit
Isn't that what he wore last year when he escaped from Fenway Park for his three months sabbatical? I wonder if he kept, just to honor today. (I am more partial to Talk like Pirate Day, but to each their own.)

3. LOL!
This is funny. Remember the old American Tourister suitcase ads with the gorilla beating the crap out of the suitcases -- the guy in the gorilla suit in the commercials is a friend of mine. I cracked up when I read this.

4. Then it's so appropriate that the SOTU is tonight
It explains a lot...

5. Hey, for a real change in image
What do you think the reaction to a 6' 4'' gorrilla would be at the SOTU?

6. I know I'm a day late
but I just had to thank you for posting this, Whome, and everyone who commented! It made me laugh very hard (esp. Karynnj's musing about the tall gorilla-suited attendee at the SOTU speech!) I can't remember now where I heard the story of a long-ago Hallowe'en on Beacon Hill where someone said they thought they spied a very tall, familiar figure wearing a Nixon mask, but somehow I believe it!

7. Kerry wore a NIXON mask?
That's funny, but wouldn't it scare the kids?

8. It was not a confirmed story by any means!
But just the thought of it always makes me laugh!
