Does the bashing even bother you anymore?
It kind of bothers me but not so much anymore. I guess I've realized that there's no point in caring since I can't change anyone's mind. That's me for now.

Watch, I get pissed off later.

1. There are more people challenging the bashers which I think helps a lot.

2. sometimes, but then
I have more moments of cool than I did before. It's kind of like getting down to business now. There's work to be done, and all that. I also keep reminding myself that if I sound like a hothead, I'll make myself look bad. If I can stay cool, maybe more people will listen. Trying to learn from TayTay and Ginny. They argue very effectively with the idiots.

15. yes, of course I do
I don't always respond, but I try to read everything in this group. It does feel like a labor of love. I feel like working for John Kerry would be the most gratifying work in the world. I'd do it for free. I don't mean just responding to naysayers and repukes, I mean really working. Got a taste of it during the campaign with the canvasing and such, and felt like I'd never done anything more important.

19. ok
what I was thinking is that you saw my posts outside of this group. I do read everything in this group, too, because I know it is all pro-Kerry and is going to boost me up, not bring me down. I come here and recharge and catch up on the news, and then if I have time I visit some of the other forums and see what posts I can respond to.

21. I usually link to the one's that get posted here
and I read those, too. You do have cool-headedness under fire. I'm learning. Been venturing out a bit, but still don't get into election results unless someone calls for help.

3. It still bothers me,
but not as much. I keep telling myself this is a small and very angry band. They're not speaking for most dems.

6. They sure are.
No arguing that. Were you following the whole discussion about Larisa's post on Kos? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=273x6389

Those were some truly evil so-called dems.

5. Ahm, well I just wrote this....
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 02:33 PM by TayTay
in a thread about today's JK speech on fraud....

Poster had an insane rant about screw you JK, you're too late....

I sarcastically agreed!
....

And make sure that you and all the other Dems who believe that this is an important issue but don't believe they had the votes to get anything done in Congress at this moment in time give up right now. We don't want to do anything that would push this issue into the American consciousness, anything that might help America achieve a political tipping point that would cause people to demand a change. Please don't do anything that might appeal to the American sense of fairness, that might cause people to look sympathetically at this issue. I would rather lose nobly with people I like than eventually win with people who I hate.

We know what happened in the election fraud. We also know that at the exact moment that we knew, magically, every American all across the land knew it too. (That's the way it happens, I learn something and bam, I magically give this knowledge away to all in the land.) We don't need to continually push this, we don't have to acknowledge that we have powerful opponents who don't want change because the status quo benefits them. Oh no, I say that the only way to get real change is to make everyone see what I see at the exact moment I see it or screw them. This is what I call democracy. Long may the people I dislike not do anything that I want them to do. That's what I call participatory democracy.

May not be worth it, but it's fun!

Edit: in this thread, not that you want o tread it, but for completeness sake: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=1158623&mesg_id=1158863

sarcasm may not get through to idiots, but neither does logic, and somehow the sarcasm is so...satisfying.

but I'm getting more and more suspicious. Some are probably more leftist than most but some have to be trolls. If you search their other posts, it tends to come together.

On edit: My hunches are right! One asshole I was suspicious about got tombstoned :)

11. I'd prefer not to hear or read it.
It doesn't help my faith in humanity to see these petty and small-minded people going after such a good and decent person, but it doesn't boil my blood anymore. I just figure that it's not worth responding to if it comes from Freeper types, and if it comes from the Left, well, my opinion is that it'll pass... eventually. They rant and rave about how horrible the Democratic Party is, but I have yet to see the Greens or their equivalent getting more than 1 or 2 percent of the vote.

But yeah, it still kind of bothers me. Just not in the same way that it used to.

17. It's a war against ignorance
that I try to fight. The way some people think so narrowly, and in such a non-thoughtful, knee-jerk way. And in black-and-white terms. And since their vision is sooo limted, they are quick to judge people, like they judge JK for his actions or failures to act, because they simply don't understand! If they do understand, and still act nasty, well then I can't help them. They are just going to be a drag on everything Democrats are trying to acheive.

I don't pretend to understand everything either, but I have faith in the guy, so do not judge. Being judgemental is the opposite of being understanding.

So I don't get really mad at these people--it's more like I'm sad for them, and aim my efforts at getting them to open up their minds.

18. Yes it does
I step away from DU for a week to get a breather, and what do I find first thing in LBN? A Kerry bashing thread.
You'd think LBN is fairly safe, but nooo. And it's always the same a**holes who do it. Almost like they wait around all day for Kerry threads just so they can jump in and piss on them.
Can you reason with them? Hardly. Not after weeks and weeks of using logic and common sense to dismantle their argument, only to see them post the same thing again.
I swear I'm starting to hate some posters here

20. I hear ya
I saw a thread today on LBN that was total bullshit. What's even more annoying is that these whiny motherfuckers are probably not even doing anything. They probably sit in front of their computers all day crying and whining about how democracy is dead. I already hate a lot of the posters here.

22. Hmmm, maybe Larissa had a point last week
There was a Kerry thread last weekend, on GD I think, that had a 95% positive response. Now, suddenly, all the negatives are back. Hmm, solution:

I propose that Kerry threads on GD only be allowed on weekends. No bashing, no problems.

Seriously, e are going to have to start to track when and how these occur. I smell a correlation.
