the united Arab Emirates? Has he made a statement? This is what we should be screaming about , not the stupid Cheney incident! The control of our ports including NY and NOLA is going to a nation that has ties to the 9-11 hijackers? And Busco is talking about prosecuting the "war on terror' ? This is beyond belief! I see Hillary and Menendez are attempting to block this! Thank God someome is. I am sure JK supports HRC and Menedes but I would like to know if there is a statement!

1. Clinton and Menendez are introducing legislation
I'm sure Sen Kerry will have something to say about it. I like that the new guy is leading the effort. And it makes sense since NY and NJ are immediately affected.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Two U.S. Democratic senators said on Friday they would introduce legislation aimed at blocking Dubai Ports World from buying a company that operates several U.S. shipping ports because of security concerns.

Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Hillary Clinton of New York said they would offer a measure to ban companies owned or controlled by foreign governments from acquiring U.S. port operations.

"We wouldn't turn the border patrol or the customs service over to a foreign government, and we can't afford to turn our ports over to one either," Menendez said in a statement. The Senate Banking Committee also plans to hold a hearing on the issue later this month.

3. This entire thing is just unbelievable.
I swear sometimes I think we're actually living in the Twilight Zone. I think some Republicans will be speaking out on this issue as well. This is just crazy.

The same group that just made a deal to aquire US port operations is now making a deal with Palestine to do the same.

UAE, Palestine to set up a joint investment firm
BY AHMED A. ELEWA (Deputy Business Editor)

18 February 2006

DUBAI — The UAE and Palestine have agreed to the establishment of a new joint investment company, to be announced within a few weeks, according to Mazen Sinokrot, the Palestinian Minister of Economy, who has recently visited the UAE.

"We have already started with the first step towards establishing this company by talking to a large number of investors, that are expected to be the seed for the new entity, including Palestinian as well as Emirati investors, and we expect that this company will see the light within the coming few weeks," he added.

"We seek to benefit from the UAE's expertise in the field of building and developing marine ports, to develop the Gaza port, not only that, we are also in critical need of management expertise," he added while referring to the successes of Dubai Ports World, paving the way for yet a new venture for the world's number three ports operator.
