Kerry must be doing good things - Anti Kerry posts are up on GD
It seems to be the day today for Kerry attacks, and of the weirdest type:

- a couple of people have been offended by Kerry's comments on the UAE boycott of Israel. Not very clear why, of course, except may be that the word Israel is in the post.

- Kerry's endorsement of Tammy Duckworth (sp?) has given very weird comments. Clearly Kerry should not endorse anybody according to these people (except if they agree with the endorsement, I imagine).

I guess he cannot do anything without being criticized. Thanksfully, while these fools have been busy criticizing him for nothing, he has been busy doing things from us, from the ethics enforcement bill to action for LA and others.

1. The Duckworth criticism doesn't surprise me
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 07:22 PM by WildEyedLiberal
Those same people go into a furor every time Duckworth is brought up on DU, making the same points they're making in today's threads - that the "establishment" is "choosing" candidates, Cegelis and the grassroots (as if those are one and the same) are being given the shaft, etc etc. It's all bullshit, since unlike Hackett Cegelis will compete in the primary and those who prefer her will vote for her regardless of how many luminaries endorse Duckworth. They did this when Clark endorsed Duckworth, too, and the minute I saw Kerry's email, I knew the usual crowd of purists and hand-wringers would start in.

I didn't really have an opinion about IL-06 (other that disliking the heavy-handed stifling tactics of the anti-Duckworth crowd) but if Kerry is endorsing Duckworth she must be a good, honorable person, so I will send her some money as soon as I can.

2. I have no opinion on the race.
I like Cegelis, have seen Duckworth once on ABC and she was good too. From what I understand, she is not from the district and Emmanuel and Durbin have more or less forced her in the race because they thought she would do better and some local people are resentful.

What is funny is that, on GD and elsewhere, the people who complain are not from IL, but feel entitled to know better than people in IL-06 or local politicians like Durbin, because they are the netroots.

3. Oh of course
:eyes: But when Gore endorsed Dean I bet they were all excited about that one. Ugh. He can never do anything right. And as someone posted at the end of my thread is that all Duckworth's opponents don't want her to run while bitching and screaming about "democracy." Such hypocrites.

7. Kerry endorsed Villaraigosa
against another Dem , Jim Hahn who was the incumbant mayor. did those complaining now complain then ?

or is the real objection to the fact that someone is supporting a candidate against someone endorsed by the DFA ?

8. Why are these people so concerned with who Kerry endorsed?
Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 12:10 AM by ProSense
They spend their time spewing BS about Kerry being irrelevant, but suddenly they are all up in arms about who gets his endorsement.

They are kooks, and I'm tired of them.

Who has Clinton, Feingold, Reid, Schumer, Clark, Edwards, Gore or any other of Democrat endorsed and financially supported?

All of a sudden Kerry endorses someone and these kooks start acting like it's a crime. As a supporter, if Kerry endorsed someone I didn't like I'd be upset, but that would be his choice.

These people are not even Kerry supporters and they are all pissed off.

If Chuck Schumer endorsed a candidate I didn't like, why the fuck would I care?

9. to be fair, Clark got the same crap
from the same group of people for endorsing Duckworth. the issue seems to be more about some having issues with anyone daring to go against whoever the DFA is supporting.

10. I understand.
They weren't Clark supporters either. And my point is that Clark and the other Democrats can endorse any candidate they choose to.

14. Which is strange as they have no problem with DFA
endorsing people - even when more than one person is running.

In Duckworth's case, I can't imagine why Kerry would support a candidate who is a vet, active in veteran's rights, who spoke (very intelligently) before a House committee. She sounds like she would be an excellent candidate - which doesn't take anything away from her opponent.

Edited on Thu Mar-02-06 10:27 AM by Mass
because she had 44 % of the vote last time. Does that mean we should annoint Kerry in 2008 because he got more than 47 % of the vote?

:sarcasm:

15. Great point
In Kerry's case they insist that no only shouldn't he be annointed, they feel he is wrong to even run because he lost - but it's ok for Clark and Edwards to run.

24. Kerry got more votes than Cegelias in her own district also
consider it is a conservative leaning district, and also that it's her own home district. yet Kerry the liberal from "taxachusettes" got more than her.

17. He also had the best sound bite -
"that the curtain was ripped away and there wasn't even a wizard there" (or something like that)

What's infuriating is that Kerry seems to effortly come out with these wonderful comments - but there are constant comments that he can't speak in sound bites.

18. Continuation of the saga
Kerry will be the only Senator who will be singled out for his vote on the Patriot Act.

Kerry is responsible for Tammy's stances on Iraq (she does not want to leave Iraq quickly enough)

The old Kerry bashers who had stayed silent for a few weeks (since January) are back.

19. Double standard maybe?
Been here for a year and a half, but does it seem like Kerry is being held to a higher standard than most dems? I like Gore, I like Clark, I like Feingold, but some supporters discourage me from supporting them by constantly bashing Kerry.

Are they scared or what?

21. Funny that OP claims it is because Kerry is *SO POPULAR* on DU
as a potential Pres candidate in 08, that he/she feels the need to single him out for denunciation re Patriot Act vote.

I can;t keep up -- I thought Kerry was *unpopular* and *reviled* except by the deranged members of the JK Group?

Enjoyed reading your posts in that thread -- I was late to the game.
