1. I love Max Cleland so much
He is the absolute epitome of a patriotic American. I hope I get to meet him someday - my admiration for that man is just boundless.

2. He really is great
In Tour of Duty, Clealand spoke of giving Kerry his family bible to take with him during the campaign. He spoke of his concern that they would try to smear Kerry. It was very clear that he genuinely loved and respected Kerry and had since he had first heard him speak in the 70s.

The media ignores how many people Kerry has met in his life who clearly trust him more than is typical in politics (or life). (My guess is that not even Hillary trusts Bill as much as Clealand and others trust Kerry.)

:loveya: I thought that really was very powerful giving away a very personal book to someone whether a Bible or some other type of book. I don't think I could ever part with my Bible. I think Kerry is one of the few politicians I totally trust. Some others of course are Conyers, McKinney, Boxer.

6. I missed him by five minutes.
When I went to Ohio to work for Hackett. There were only a dozen of us in the office, but I was knocking on doors and got back five min too late. He had just left for the airport.
Damn, I would have loved to meet Max. The people there who know him say he really is as great as everyone says.

Next time.

Oh, and it's awesome that he said he will support JK in '08. I'm sure everyone knew he would, but for him to say it is just wonderful. We need lots, lots more of that.

Yay Max!!!
:applause:

and I didn't get to go. :( It would've been great to meet him. I think our governor showed up too and my mayor did.

7. I love Max too!
The love and admiration JK and Max have for each other is so warm and genuine - it just shines through every time you see the two of them together. Max is an incredible man, there is no doubt about it. I look forward to the day when he serves in President Kerry's Cabinet!

11. You can tell they're really great friends too and
not just for their careers. They do seem to enjoy each other's company as well. I'm sure they both would die for each other in a heart beat. :)

12. I saw Max speak in person. He is a riot.
During the 2004 Presidential election, he was the guest speaker at meeting for Kerry supporters in Central PA. It was at a Union Hall. The speaker was suppose to be Joe Biden, but from what I heard he couldn't seem to make up his mind and they got Max. He is an Amazing human being and a great story teller. I was so impressed with him. He can really rile up a crowd.

14. Sounds like you got lucky with that one!
I'd prefer to hear Max talk any day of the week, especially if the alternative is Joe Biden!
