Did you good folks get the new fundraising letter from Sen. Kerry?

He is raising funds for Harold Ford (TN), Sherrod Brown (OH) and Amy Kornbluth (MN). All three Senate candidates are running for the Senate this year. The first two would take seats from the Rethugs and the last candidate is running for Sen. Dayton's open seat in Minnesota.

I sent some money. I could not do so that last time out, but I did now.

I want my letter! Today, I sent another note via the contact form at both PAC sites. I'm distraught!

I had this problem with Verizon.net.

i really think we can win all three of those, and I think Sherrod Brown contrary to what is believed about him by many DUers is actually a great guy and I believe has been elected state wide before in Ohio. Ford's moderate stances on the issues will help him big here and it will be I believe if he is elected the first time since reconstruction that there have been two black senators in the senate at the same time. Kornbluth should win, Minnesota may have a republican governor and Coleman but it's still quite blue and I believe it went higher for Kerry than it did for Gore. It looked like it was going purple but now is firlmy more blue. Presidential politics wise Minnesota has the longest streak of being a blue state because it never went for Reagan. Even your state went for him. sorry for that dig, my state hasnt gone to the democrats since 1964 which means its only gone democratic once since 1948, Eisenhower carried it twice and Nixon in 60 too. Sorry for rambling.

Once in '80 and then again in '84. However, the '84 memory is somewhat mitigated by the knowledge that we had a Senate race that year for an open seat and it was handily filled by an able Democrat. (Thanks be to Gawd!) That took some of the sting out of it.

because of the John Anderson candiacy. Yep that was the year that Kerry got elected, kind of interesting how Kerry's first runs for Congress, the first one in 72 and the success one in 84 were both in Republican landslides years at least for the presidency. Massachuetts really has had some great senators over the past 45 years, Kennedy, what I hear about Ed Brooke is that he was in the liberal wing of the GOP and an admirable guy, Ive heard some of you guys say good things about Tsongas in the past too, and of course Kerry. You know this is kinda unrelated but you know how Kerry talked about his "band of brothers" in the campaign, I finished reading a biography of Harry Truman and it seems that Truman's heroics and genuine affection for his men and their respect for him was very similiar to what we heard about Kerry and the guys on the swift boat with him.

Was happy to hear from my fave tall Senator. (Well my fave any kind of Senator, actually) :-)

I see this as another opportunity to show the senator's fund raising prowess. Even though I was going to give to Brown anyway - and probably work for him - I'm keeping this link for all my contributions to his campaign.

I liked the way his are lay ed out, you can make a choice to donate for on or all or just to the PAC.

Oh, I know you didn't ask, but I also got a fund raising letter today from Hillary Clinton, asking for a donation so that SHE could fight the Republicans and promote our ideals. Honestly, she doesn't need more money for her campaign. I think the Republicans have given up on this battle.

during the primary. he was out there campaigning for Kerry even when everyone was saying it was over for him and he had no chance.

I don't know who were Kerry's endorsements during the primaries, but I remember Harold had an office set up in Memphis during the primaries. Good for him.

i remember watching him do some tv interviews to show support for Kerry while he was out in the cold snow in New Hampshire. he was a national co chair of the Kerry campaign.

I remember hearing about Dean, Clark, and Kucinich's endorsements, but not Kerry or Edwards.

but these people were on the ground working all along . i got most of my info on the Kerry campaign from his own website or some other internet site. and usually i had to search for it.

I remember the Dean ones very well because he was getting some big names, I remember very well when I heard about the Gore endorsement, there was a special on the history channel about the klan that day, I know weird but thats how I remember things. Dean also had Harkin endorse him on the eve of Iowa, he also had his two senators in Vermont behind him, but I don't think Sanders got involved with either Dean or the Kucinich campaign. Kucinich only had one person in Congress I think and it was Lynn Woosley.

are still on various threads arguing that the media, the party, having more money, or Diebold gave Kerry his primary wins. The fact is that by December 2003, Dean had far more media, far more money, far more (and better publicized) endorsements. It's a testament to the Independence of the Iowa and NH voters that they looked at the candidates, ignored the hype and chose.

What was fun watching CSPAN's coverage of two caucus places was seeing that people came in knowing who they were for and even discussing it. Kerry's win was a huge upset. (Dean's scream hurt him, but without it the two biggest stories would have been 1) Kerry's surge and 2) what happened to Dean. As BLM has noted elsewhere the other big question would be how did the media miss this.

and Henry Cicernos a Clinton cabinet member. I really remember the firefighters union guy well, he was very loyal to the campaign, that stuck with me even when I wasn't officilaly supporting Kerry, loyalty is very important and admirable of course too.
