1. Don't know. Vacation? Hanging out in LA?
Hitting the links? Having some meetings then hitting a movie?

Ya got me. I didn't see local news, but I don't think he's home.

I think he has a wedding anniversary next month, maybe him and the Mrs are taking an early vacation and celebrating.

2. Oooh! What fun.
Sounds great. Just curious. Since he had such a busy week last week, and I have been chained to my schoolbooks this week, I wondered if I missed anything.

3. It would be great if they are taking a vacation
or getting with family to celebrate Easter. Last week had to be incredibly tiring. I still can't believe the impromtu anti-Allard speech.

5. pure catnip stuff and, ouch, meow
http://www.tvpredictions.com/hdprez.htm

Did you see this page. They rate the '08 possibles based on how they look on HDTV. Not so nice on Kerry. (Meow. Ouch.) Nice to know we are still every bit the shallow nation of nit-pickings I remember so well.

And, not true. Sigh!

Except the young and boyish Edwards.

What a crock of shit.

Kerry looks fucking phenomenal in ANY definition.

10. Also the botox garbage was debunked years ago
There is no way that Kerry = Biden or McCain! You guys saw Kerry up close. (I saw him in the noon sunlight in September in NJ, and he looked fine. We're not picking a movie star. (Am I the only one who thinks Edwards looks are over rated? I place him with Bayh - nice looking, but in a crowd of similar age middle managers, i doubt I would pick them as best looking.) I always thought that Kerry had more of a very commanding presence and a very noble appearance - and his real smile beats Edwards by a mile.

Vector, is it even possible to change the appearance of eyes with Botox? It seems too ichy to think of.

14. What it does,
Edited on Wed Apr-12-06 08:15 PM by Vektor
is relaxes the muscles around the eyes, particularly, the peri-orbitals. The achieved effect is when the person smiles, there is no constricture of those muscles, so the skin surrounding the eye-socket doesn't "crinkle." It stays put. The fact that Kerry still has the expressive lines around his eyes (and on his forehead) shows that he has not been using the product.

For example:

Before:

After:

The lines around this patient's eyes are CLEARLY eradicated, and the Senator still has pronounced character lines around his eyes when he smiles. He is NOT using Botox.

And if he were, so fucking what? It's no crime, and it works really well. There is no harm in wanting to look good, and it's no different in my opinion than dying your hair, or wearing makeup, or getting your spider veins treated or what have you. Whatever makes the patient feel good.

People need to get over making an issue out of such a common practice. It's no big deal.

15. The thing I liked about that little article
was that it caught the'he looks different depending on circumstances' thing that we all caught before. We attributed it to lighting and to the Senator having one of those faces that catches the light strongly. (Angles and such.) They went all snarky.

I wouldn't care if he did have 'work done.' I don't care if anyone does. If it makes them feel better and more confident, have at it. (Course, some people don't need to have work done, cuz they are just fine the way they are. It all depends on how you view yourself and what you are comfortable with.)

25. Also, he has a very unique face
That sounds really strange as I read what I wrote. He is very good looking, but not conventionally handsome. There are pictures that capture his eyes or his smile where he looks great - maybe because his personality comes through. There is also always a sense of dignity and class. On the videos, it is not his looks that are most noticable, it's the direct, intensely honest gaze and the seriousness he shows. That will be there in HDTV. (I would guess that Luntz's focus group would have rated the segment just as high if it were filmed in HDTV.)

Of course another point is what % of people will have HDTV sets in 2008 and what % of news shows will broadcast in HDTV? (Even then I bet more Republicans get HDTV sets.) Will C-SPAN put the Senate on in HDTV?

I think the lighting information makes much more sense then their comments.

34. CNN vs. MSNBC
It has now been twice that Kerry has done back to back interviews in his Capitol office ON THE SAME DAY with Chris Matthews and Wolf Blitzer. He looks better on MSNBC because of the lighting they use, which appears to be warmer. He looks paler on CNN. So if the Botox thing is true, then he would have had to have been interviewed with Wolf first, then dashed into the bathroom with his 24 hour on call cosmotician, snagged a little Botox, just in time for Tweety. 'Course that only works if their interviews were in that order. Otherwise he would have had to have deBotoxed after Tweety and before Wolf.

I think the point to that whole Botox thing was to make him seem "elitist". Problem is, LOTS of ordinary Americans are doing all kinds of plastic surgery, so Botox is just not that big a deal. I have a friend getting liposuction soon. Not my cup of tea, but it's hardly elitist to do these things in America today.

16. Thanks for the explanation
I do agree that it shouldn't matter, especially when there is so much emphasis placed on looks. No one would even raise an eye brow if it were a woman. Should Hillary not wear make up? (My question was due to confusion as I always associated botox with foreheads.) I actually think the lines that crinkle around his eyes when he really smiles make the smile look more real.

I also see nothing wrong with Biden trying to grow hair. He likely considers it unfair that God was much kinder in that department to Kerry.

But this was clearly written by an Edwards fan - because few would really put Kerry in a league with Biden and McCain.

7. You know, I always knew Mr. Kerry was tall
but he seems much taller lately. What is up with that? I saw him for years and years and never thought, OMG, he wicked, wicked tall. Suddenly, ever since the beginning of the Pres run in Dec. of '02, he got noticeably taller.

I must be crazy, or I just wasn't very observant before or he was constantly standing with other tall people. Sigh!

13. Yeah. Which is silly, but yeah
I don't understand it at all. Maybe it's because I see That Friggin Idiot on TV all the time and the Senator just seems taller with every passing day in comparison.

At any rate, I am ready next time I meet him. (Remember Tay, he's wicked tall. Plan accordingly.)

Not only has JK had Botox, but he's also had leg extensions. It's a painful procedure, but if it wins him a few votes, he feels it's worth it.

26. Vektor, deep in the unpleasant throes of writing a term paper
on STAPH INFECTION of all things, takes a quick break to say:

1) I think Kerry is INCREDIBLY handsome, and the only way he couldn't be considered "conventionally" so, is because he is far more interesting and attractive than "conventional". Conventionality pales in comparison to this rare, stunning piece of mankind.

2) Did someone ask for tall and beautiful?

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Exhibit C: Heh heh...
