Boston: A place to revere
Beantown brimming with history, culture, sports and, oh yeah, a marathon.

Beacon Hill is fun to stroll around. The ritzy, 19th century, red-brick neighborhood's homeowners include Sen. John Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz. According to one local we talked with, the famous Democrats' abode is off the northeast corner of Louisburg Square, and has a huge flag on display. Nearest T stop: Charles/Massachusetts General Hospital.

10 Lessons from the Corporate World for Rumsfeld's Fight to Keep His Job

Snip...

1. If a Seemingly Wise and Sound Venture is Failing, Question the Management – This is the basic principal behind calls for Rumsfeld’s ouster: if, as Bush insists, the Iraq invasion was correctly conceived and still stands a chance to succeed, there’s got to be some explanation for why the detritus of failure piles up day after day. Had new management in the form of John Kerry come in in January 2005 there would still have been a chance to turn things around. It may well be too late now, but the retired Generals and the public are right to demand that Bush try, and the way to start is with new management.

1. Cool.
Pic of Sen Kerry's house from our trip in Dec. LOL, it's me that's a little slanted, not the house. At least it's leaning left.

2. When we wandered around in Beacon Hill
we saw the house too - in fact no having the address - but having seen this photo from December, it was easy to figure out the right corner house - because of the huge flag - which really is bigger than it looks here.

3. Cool!
How would you like to spend a day (an hour) as a guest in that house?

4. That would be nice.
I hope it's you that was leaning GV. I heard that the Big Dig did a real number on the water table in the city of Boston. Basically, the Big Dig punctured the bathtub that holds the water in. That means that the water table under places like the residences on Beacon Hill have exposed pylons that have begun to rot away. The bill to fix the pylons and get them reinforced for a house like the one in the pic above is a cool $250,000. (Gotta keep that day job Sen!) All in all, the bill to fix buildings at risk in bosotn might come in at $10 Billion dollars. Sigh! And to think, we thought the problem was leaks in the new tunnels, not a loss of water in general.
