4. You did a terrific job
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 10:45 AM by fedupinBushcountry
as did Rodeodance. My question is: Where is all the response from those who complain, just proves they talk the talk but don't walk the walk. To easy to use others words than to think and listen on their own.

5. I hope the hearing is playing on radio
It sounded like it was a really moving and forceful event.

Sigh! This is what the American people need to hear. Not even C-Span, unless it's on tape delay.

6. I will be checking
at 1 p.m., hopefully I heard correctly that they were going to air it then. C-Span needs to quit showing so many Repubs back to back and AEI think tank programs and get down to serious debate. Everytime I see AEI, sometimes several times a day on different topics,do people really know it is nothing but a propaganda republican think tank. Arrrgh.

7. Just spoke to KarenDC
PoliticsTV was there and will be putting a video up on their site of this hearing.

Also, Karen was just sitting down to lunch with some participatns, including Cindy Sheehan. There WILL BE more hearings. When we get the schedule we can go to work on C-Span and get them to show this.

8. Great stuff. I was very disappointed at dailykos though, that this didn't
make the reco list.

Karen's blogging was excellent though.

9. It takes work to follow a live-blog with any webcast
to go along with it. I'm not surprised it didn't get recommended. (That is hard. Even last week, we at least had a script released for Kerry's remarks. People had something to go on.)

I missed this. I hope more details will come out, either a transcript or audio/video.

11. Possible coverage on WPFW, on tape delay today
I'll check starting at 1:00 pm (EST) today.

KarenDC is with Cindy Sheehan right now. They are going over to the Senate to try and see the Majority Leader. They may not leave voluntarily today, if you get my meaning. We shall see.

Why doesn't anyone at DU or DKos care about the big doings in the Congress. Why do we have to get hung up on old, personal grievances. Things are happening now.

Something to think about.

The war on apathy
Whatever happened to impassioned student activism?

By Morganne Pollie
Princetonian Contributor

While it is true that the stereotypical college student is blissfully liberated from adult reality, Princetonians are known to be ambitious, active and responsible. For one thing, we have all that independent work. Also, given the level of competition in admissions, some of us got started on extracurriculars and SAT prep shortly after exiting the womb. Yet, given the political turmoil that currently characterizes America, the Princeton campus appears almost rebelliously docile. Aside from the Frist Filibuster and Princeton Pro-Life's display on Frist lawn, Princeton students largely read the newspaper, pop their collars and go about their daily lives fuss-free. Where is the passion? Where is the activism of our campus and of our generation?

Though 18- to 20-year-olds flooded the polls after gaining the right to vote in 1971, only 58 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds registered to vote in the 2004 election and only 47 percent of them showed up. Apparently, the thrill of enfranchisement has worn off. Did our poor showing make a difference? A solid majority of voters between 18 and 29 years of age — 54 percent, according to CNN's election result tabulations — supported John Kerry. In case you've been heavily medicated for the past two years, he didn't win.

I don't mean to blame Kerry's loss on the low student-voter turnout, but I do want to remind you that the current administration has accumulated the largest deficit in history. We're the ones who are going to have to pay it off, and we didn't even vote for the guy responsible for it. This is the essential reason that young people need to vote. They have the longest future ahead of them and therefore the greatest stake in every decision that the government makes.

Cindy Sheehan is there. Dealing with Sen. Frist. And Charlie, the young Iraq vet who Karen said is so lost. Trying to get in to see the Kat-Killer, over Iraq.

Some sugar, please

17. Thanks, everyone
We just dropped the gang off at the Hart Building. As I was driving, one of the Iraqi women was saying how discouraging it is when people do not want to hear the truth--her story is the truth about what is happening over there, and no one, not Congress, not even the Daily Kos readers, want to hear it.

I talked about the ripples that emanate from even small bits of knowledge and action. You are all helping here, and that makes it worthwhile.

I cannot tell you how concerned I am about what I heard today. I describe most of it at the Kos and DCP threads. If people cannot act, they must, at least care.

It is always easier with some kind of visual or audio broadcast.

Never give up, never surrender.

What gets me are the number of people who supposedly oppose this war and yet can't find the time to read a sigle post agreeing with them on this. They would rather rehash the past. (There is a time and a place for that. But we can do things now. Sigh!)
